No need for matches or lighter
Great idea for preparedness. No need to find matches or lighter. No worries about wet matches or lighting in the wind/rain. Mounted to the lamp, always where you need it, always ready to light. Gentler on delicate mantles as lantern can be lit with globe in place and no wind exposure.
Can be a little fussy with fitment. I cannot see a use for the bracket included, as it does not fit on my 220 Series lanterns, so I removed it. The telescoping nature of where how far into the lamp sparker extends is understandable given the more generic nature of the device, however twist-lock in place is so-so. I have two of these, and one of them keeps falling down and out of position.
I have two lanterns and two sparkers. Check on item off the prep-list!Read full review

Gets you by without matches, but at the expense of SAFETY! Please read review for details.
The idea of this lighter is much better than how it works in practice depending on the model of lantern you have. I had this item on a 200A (single mantle lantern), and it worked well on that one, so I figured it would also work well with a 295 (2-mantle lantern). The instructions for the 295 state that you should have a lit match in lantern chamber before opening the gas valve, and for very good reason. With this method, the flame is present before the gas arrives, and the mantle will "gently" light as soon as the gas accumulates enough to light. Using the flint lighter, the gas is present before the spark, and if you don't light it IMMEDIATELY and too much gas is present, the mantle will light "violently" in the form of a LARGE flame "pop" that can come out of the vent holes and possibly burn you slightly. I lost some hair on my fingers as a result, but no significant burn. Had more gas been present, the "pop" could have been even bigger, although I'm not sure if there is an explosion hazard or not. So I view this as a safety concern, and I recommend that this lighter be used as a backup in an instance that a gas lighter/matches are not available.
As I mentioned earlier, this item worked well on a 200A. There is still the risk of the "violent" LARGE flame "pop", but the 200A seems to be more forgiving in the amount of time you have between when you open the gas and when you need to make a spark.
Be safe everyone!Read full review

Igniter works great in Lantern or Potato Gun
I love using these in pototato guns because they are much more reliable than the Piezo grill igniters. These are good quality & have never worn one of these out yet. Purchased my first one over 20 years ago.Read full review

Lantern Spark Igniter
Used this type igniter before and was not disappointed this time as well. Works with just about any lantern with a little modification. Very convenient.

Poor Design
The lighter employs a spring steel pin that slides in a brass channel. This is supposed to hold the lighter in position while it is being used to light the mantels. Steel on brass is not an ideal design. The steel pin can wear through the brass channel within a short time.Read full review

Handy device
It takes a bit of "handyman skills" to fit this to your lantern, depending on which model. Be careful when the globe is set in, that it doesn't hit the nut or igniter, as it will break the globe in time. Very handy in the wind or rain to get a cold lantern going,Read full review

Good
Would have given 5 stars if the 1/4 inch flat washers referenced by Coleman in the instructions were included in the package instead of me having to make a trip to the local Hardware Store to buy them.Read full review
