Everything the travelling light amateur needs in one small camera bundle.

If you are used to Canon cameras this is easy to use as it follows the traditional Canon format which has been around since long into the 35mm film format. If you are not no worry as Canon cameras are the easiest to use with their logical procedures and the little cameras nestles easily in the hand. The latest Nikons have a much longer zoom but totally miss the point of what a bridge camera is, being too heavy and bulky and need a tripod. The Canon SX70 has fantastic image stabilisation which even at longer lens lengths is impressive. The 65 x lens inherited from the SX60 is the ideal telephoto range and at 21mm has a wider landscape view than the super zoom Nikons and much more useful. The lens aperture is a tad restrictive at either end and a missing hot shoe is a little disappointing. However I have tried it using a slave flash with its own flash manually reduced and the results are really good. It uses the same small sensor as many other bridge cameras so if you want serious pro quality images you will need to pay a lot more on the up market Sony's and the like nor are they any way as versatile.
