Brilliant pocket-size technology, smarter than your phone.

A lot of camera for your money. So many of us have discarded our compact cameras in favour of the ones on our mobile phones.

There are many advantages to small cameras like the SX230, but the biggest one of all is the lens. This has a x14 optical zoom, giving a focal length range of 28-392mm (35mm film equivalent). And don't be put off by the 12 megapixel, 1/2.3" image sensor - 12 MP is more than enough for snap-shooters and pros alike, so longs as you're not expecting to produce poster size images every day.
In fact, with fewer pixels the signal to noise ratio is improved so you get better low light results.

Excellent Point and Shoot Model

I bought this camera as a replacement for the same model I have been using for at least the last 15 years and through my own carelessness no longer worked perfectly. Its a great pocket camera for taking out and about if like me you don't have a phone up to the job of taking good photos. I've been delighted with the quality of the images I've taken and the ease of use even when in bright sunshine I haven't been able to actually see what I'm focussing on!

Canon SX230 converted for Infrared - different kind of images.

I have made changes to the CHDK settings which improves the picture quality. This does, however, result in some vignetting on RAW files. The camera is fun to use and does give a different insight into how you can represent what you see.Read full review

Best shot and video camera around

Shame this camera can only be got second hand - Having used one for 4/5 years AND having a underwater housing for those snorkeling shots , this is still one of the best camera's I have used , therefore this is a back up / spare should mine ever break down .
