A great inkjet printer, but of uncertain life span.

I love the performance and excellent design of PIXMA 1P4300 printers. The clear ink tanks are easy to refill, making color printing very economical. Also, the print head lifts out for easy cleaning. Great printer for double-sided printing. The downside is that they have a frustrating tendency to die from sudden circuit failure. In the last five years I have gone through four of them. getting the printer to a useable state

The print head was causing an error, I fixed this by replacing it with the print head from my other IP4300. The printer was very dusty and there were no power lead or USB cable. There was no setup disk as I already have the old disk for my other printer, plus the drivers for the IP4300 are already installed on my other PC's that was not a problem. I suggest that would be a problem, for anyone who purchased the printer without the disk or cables.Read full review...

Great for greeting cards and picture collages

So far it is working fine. The only complaint is I have trouble sometimes with the open/close lid staying all the way down and the printer thinks there isn't a correct connection. I put a stack of greeting cards I had made on top of the printer lid and for now it seems to work O.K. Other than that, the color is great as always and for what I do, it works fine. This is the 3rd printer I've had of this same model. The first one lasted for many years. The second one only lasted three years. I hope this one lasts much longer. Best Printer Out There

I am the proud owner of 5 Pixma ip4300...What I like best is the ink is separated into each color so it is very cost effective when ink needs to be replaced...it is sturdy and prints beautiful photos...it is important to know how to
maintain the ink housing and to know that if that housing gets clogged for non-use...IT IS REPLACEABLE! I will always opt to repair my printer than continue to buy new when issues happen. Experience with this printer will show that it is the best option out there!Read full review...

Huge & larger than necessary, but easy to use 3rd party bulk inks to refill

It's too bad they did such a poor design. It's larger than it should be with square like corners. The front panel is way too large. It only needed to be wide enough to access the paper feed.
Poor power button placement in the corner.

Big plus are the resettable 'carts' by 3rd party vendors.Read full review...

I've been sold on the Canon printer for a long time but alas, all things wear with time and deteriorate.
