Not your ordinary macro!!!

As a macro lens this is awesome lens. Great image quality without any doubts.

Now being ablebt to use it as a general portrait lens is a bonus keeping in mind the price you pay for it.

This new lens that I bought used on Ebay is the best one yet, in my camera kit.

The image is sharp almost always with handheld shots.

The time saved is enormous because of this, the IS.<br>
I tried Sigma 180mm and the Canon 100mm non-IS

for macro shots. Neither one of them compare to this lens.

Outstanding Macro Lens For Canon EOS Cameras

Awesome lens. I gave my old one to a grandchild and bought this one to replace it.

Best All-Around Macro Lens ! ! !

The non-"IS" version is also great. But this version makes it easier to capture shots without a tripod when taking photos that are close-up, but not super-macro.

Is it worth the extra $$$? I think so. I always keep my lenses and boxes in case I ever want to resell them. The resale value of this lens will be better than the other options. Same thing with the other choices of brands that have gotten close to cloning this lens.
