Best one around

First and foremost, be aware of what fire you want to replace with the Provence. The reason for this, is that prior to to buying the Provence, a number of the reviews complained that the fire was not as warm as the reviewers previous fire. I too fell into this trap, until the penny dropped.
The Provence has a heat output of 3kw max, the fire that it replaced and others in the house, have a max output of 4.2kw and 2.8kw on low setting.
Therefore, it’s enviable that the Provence will not be as hot as “my last fire”.

That said, it basically takes 30-35 minutes on high, to heat a room the 4.2kw would take 15 minutes to heat. So one advantage is that the Provence is possibly a bit cheaper to run, but that depends on how you use it and what heat you like to have in your room.

The fire itself IS HEAVY, around 37kg. It comes in 2 boxes, the main box IS a two person lift, so be aware of that. That box is the heaviest due to the fire being mainly cast iron. The other box has the lid in it. It connects by 3 screws that has threaded holes in the main body.

Depending who you buy from, our fire came complete with a clip on regulator and 5 yr orange gas hose and a battery for the igniter, which was nice.
Now, one complaint that people picked up on was the odour given in the first hours of burning. Yes, it stinks. Apparently it’s supposed to be mainly from the silicates in the coals. The manufacturer reckons 5-6 hours for it to burn off and they are right, so if you or anybody else suffers from a bad chest, be careful.
We have the space, so it went outside, which sounds crazy, but it worked.

Ease of movement is great, two fixed direction wheels at the back, two 360 moveable wheels at the front.

Hot parts are the front. Warm to very warm, depending on your heat tolerance is the front of the lid at the top, which allows very easy access to the controls and gas bottle. Some people use a cloth to open the lid, as and in our case, we don’t need to use one.

The flame, or, what flame. There is very little flame from this fire and the one you get is blue. This tells you the fire is working correctly. When it’s heated up, you do get a nice red glow, which is how the original wood burners would operate.
Starting the fire. This is a easy process, but you do need to keep an eye on it. The first time I lit ours, it gave me a shock. As the gas ignites it goes with a loud woof, so be aware of that. Also, it may take more than one attempt to light it, so make sure you read the lighting instructions and know what your doing.
We live if France and the French cannot believe that there is a gas bottle in the back of it, so that tells you a lot about how it looks. So make sure you read and understand the manufactures instructions before using.
And one final thing, it looks absolutely stunning.
