CTC 3d Printer Makerbot Dual Extruder Based - 1.75mm PLA ABS

Good bargain, space for enhancements

It is for DIY people not for greenhorns. Works almost out of the box. Head must be screwd up to it's place.

Black color means black painted wood case, not metal ;-)
The construction is decent (Makerbot), the build quality is "higher chinese". There could be found badly assembled things, loosy screews, but the overall picture is mostly acceptable.

Out of box the print quality is so-so. Dual head should set up since heads were not aligend. After simple alignment, both head worked somehow. (Dualhead printing IS mostly very problematic. So this printer is good in it.)
If you need good quality prints you should thingten screws, add/change fitures with printed parts: axis stabilzers, filament guides, case cover, update firmware, etc. Not a rocket sience but needs careful work.

It does worth it's price.
It is cheaper than finding plans, collecting parts, assembling things. BUT set up is really-really needed.

CTC 3D Printer.

Strangely, the machine came with only one spool pin though there are two holes cut in the back panel as you would expect for a twin nozzle printer. Upon querying, it was suggested that I print a second one for myself. Not good enough. This problem could be alleviated by the supply of injection moulded items which would be a considerable saving in time than to print the pins.

By far, the most inefficient thing was the cheap cast wingnuts onto steel threads which made it extremely difficult to accurately level the table due to the slack in the wingnut threads which eventually stripped.

Another problem that I had was that the printed model stuck to the blue tape on the table which tore when I tried to remove the model. I replaced the tape with 2mm glass held on with clips.

Having said all this, if the supplier should take note of my criticisms, the buyers would find themselves with a robust and efficient printer for the price.Read full review

Takes some setting up to work correctly.

There are some much needed extras that go with this in order to achieve usable results. Luckily some of the parts needed you can print.

My extras parts list:
1. Glass shet for print bed
2. Bottle of acetone
3. Four bearings and four 3d printed bearing housings to correctly support the drive rails and greatly reduce backlash
4. Flexable cable guide for X axis
5. 3d printed cable guide on top of print head
6. Sprung loaded aluminium material feeders
7. PTFE material feed pipe from material real to print head.
8. Push fit pipe connectors for above
9. Updated firmware

I could keep going with this list, but don't get me wrong this is a good printer, it just needs a lot of set-up to be a really good printer. Don't expect great results out of the box.Read full review

Good printer for experimenting

This is my first 3d printer. I bought because of the price. It is affordable. Problems I faced:
1. Printing head is dual that is why is very heavy. In high speed it makes lot of vibration. (Actually I removed one of the extruders completely. )
2. Frame is made of plywood and not reliable .
3. Assembled parts are not very accurate. Especially y axis.
4. Z axis is wobbling all the time. Because z axis two guide rods are not fixed properly.
But in spite if all those problems good printer if you want to learn how 3d printer works. Personally me loved it very much. Right now I am printing diy hypercube 3d printers parts on it. I learned a lot. Thank you.Read full review

Good printer at a reasonable price

I got this printer to print small articles but have quickly moved on to more ambitious projects that take hours to print. The quality is good, perhaps not quite as good as a Prusa but generally acceptable. The second extruder is not set up when you get the printer and it is tricky to get the height right. If its too low it scrapes across the other extruder's layers and can even lift them. If its too high the extrusion from it fails to bond with layers from the other extruder! As many people on the forums have commented the heated bed temperature is way off. I have used an infrared temperature probe to measure it; when set to 125 degrees the the bed only gets to 87. The lower temperature is fine for PLA but most people recommend 110 or so for ABS which is obviously unobtainable. Apart from the various forums there is not much support available for this product but at this price point it is difficult to mark it down for that.Read full review

Dont buy it, you wasting your money..... it doesn't work at alls..... every time you should calibrate the platform, and it fails lot of time to print

fail several time to print, and if you are lucky after several tries, one get correct.
