Bullfrog Snot Works
I recently purchased a brass HO SP 4-10-2. It looks super and runs great. It was a pretty good puller but after some running it would only pull 8 cars up a 2.2% grade. Any more would cause the drivers to slip. I think it might I have slipping previously but I did not notice and the drivers might have become polished. I decided to try Bullfrog Snot and this stuff is great. This locomotive can now pull 17 cars up the same grade. My first application wasn't the best as I got a few more lumps in it than I would have liked. Next time I'll try a different applicator and maybe try thinning it some too. I applied it to all the drivers on the insulated side and than was a mistake. The lead driver began detraining as the locomotive entered curves. With such a long wheel base and a few lumps on the lead driver was causing that driver to lift. I removed the BFS form the lead driver and the problem was solved. Great stuff. I really like and recommend it.Read full review

What a mess.
I had high hopes for this product to provide traction for my MTH template engine. I watched several videos on YouTube to learn how to apply this product. It was much more difficult to apply. It was very difficult to get it even on the surface of the wheel. The first time it hardened I found it to be very bumpy and the engine would not run on the track. It also was very difficult to remove so that I could try a second application. I had to use sandpaper to get all of it off and it took a considerable amount of time. The second application I tried him out a little smoother but it did not do anything to increase traction. In fact all the engine did was spend its Wheels on the track. Again unlike the process to remove. I did not try a third time. Very disappointing. The product is not cheap either. I paid $21 for a jar. It sounds like a good product and maybe others have been more successful with applying it evenly and having it work properly. My experience was very different. So don't expect any kind of quick and easy miracle cure for traction loss. My experience was very negative and I would not recommend this product to anyone. Your experience may be different. Good luck.Read full review

Easy to apply,great results
I was not sure of this before I bought it, I put this on wheels of my O gauge Lionel steam engine from the prewar era, it had been slipping bad when I slow down in curves and on take off, to my surprise this stuff really works good,I followed the easy instructions, let it cure , It gave this big heavy O gauge train the traction it needed, it is practically invisible one it drives,it reminds you of having traction tires, you cant go wrong with this Bull Frog snotRead full review

Great traction
I heard about this stuff but didn't fully expect it to work as stated. I tried putting some lines on the belt of the Lionel log loader. Although not perfect, it does seem to grab and pull the logs a little easier. I covered the 2 center wheels of a 2026 that could just barely pull 4 cars around the track without the wheels spinning furiously, and the next day (after curing, per instructions), it was pulling 10 cars without any slipping. It's a little tedious to put on, but with some patience, and following directions, it works great. I am amazed.Read full review

Great alternative to traction tires.
Works very well and so far it is very durable on O scale locomotives. There is a bit of a learning curve. I had to dilute it with a couple drops of water and apply with a small paint brush but once I had a technique down it's easy to use. You might need a couple of coats to fill the traction tire grove on and O scale loco but it dries fast and second coats, if needed, can be done relatively soon. Once cured it can be trimmed down or removed with an x-acto knife. Just follow the directions and possibly dilute SLIGHTLY for larger scales.Read full review

Takes the place of a traction tire.
A little difficult to apply with a Q-tip while wheels are spinning. The Q-tip falls apart. Maybe a small paint brush with short brissels will work better. I stopped the wheels from spinning and just dabbed on the product, now, using a Q-tip, to the wheel surface and repeated the task three or four times until I had the whole wheel surfaced covered. I then applied power to turn the wheels at medium speed for five or so seconds. I let the product dry over-night. For my application, I am using a O-Gauge loco, which has more weight on the wheels. The product may not dry perfectly flat, but with a heavier loco, it works fine. I applied a second coat for even better traction.Read full review

Great idea, innovative composition, takes a little practice
The stuff does exactly what it's advertised to do and lasts a reasonably long time under normal usage and conditions. Definitely gives locomotives a noticeable grip on grades and initial acceleration at start up. I found it takes a little practice to get it perfect on the wheels, including some trial and error figuring out which drive wheels it works best on each engine. Don't expect to nail it the first time; you might possibly, but it took me 2 or 3 applications (which includes removing it from the wheels, which isn't too difficult) before I was satisfied with the improved performance. There is certainly enough to experiment with many times over so that isn't a concern. I recommend it for anyone with slippy locos!Read full review

N Scale Use
It was a learning experience at first for N Scale Steamers that had Traction Tire issues. However, after finding the right mix in thinning with water and mixing well it went on as per the mfg. directions. I give this product an "A" all the way. I did let it cure for a day and on one Loco I had to install three coats to fill the gap that the traction tire was in and cured all coats. Loco runs perfect now. The jar, small as it is, will last many many years. If you have TT issues, for me it is N Scale Steam Loco's, buy this product for sure. DRRead full review

Good stuff
This stuff really works! Simple to use. Very effective. I used it on my Kusan locomotive drive wheels. They had traction tires on plastic rims that were 62 years old. Now they run like new!

Liquid Plastic
I have had this Japanese Bullet train since 1988, the rubber bands that gave it traction wore out. So it sat in a box for 20 years or more then i stumbled on Bullfrog snot. aww what can i lose so I ordered it. I did just as the directions said. Now she is up and running like it was brand new. This is great stuff . I would recommend it to any one. Thanks CJRead full review
