Great book!
Ray Manzarek was right in the middle of everything in the sixties and his writing about the time period, his adventures with the band, and his development as an artist and an idealistic seeker of wisdom during a period of upheaval is a compelling read. He provides a great deal of psychological and spiritual insight about Jim Morrison and the personal dynamics of the band, and his writing is honest and straight from the heart. He also provides positive advice to other young seekers, lovers and groovers out there! If you love the sixties and The Doors, you will LOVE this book.Read full review

The Doors from the keyboard player perspective
Very good read from the The Doors keyboard player and founding member Ray Manzarek. I’ve read most of the other Doors books out there. Ray comes across in this book with his own particular style and character, kind of like it’s us against the man sort of a hippie vibe mixed in with the facts as he remembers them. I didn’t mind it, it helps put the times that The Doors were popular in perspective. Highly recommended. Read full review

Informative and entertaining
Easy reading with overall good flow and great detail. May be a little too detailed for some readers but this book is written in the writer's style and reveals many interesting details of the band's formation and history.Read full review
