Gas Cap
This one replaced the one that fell off while mowing under the bushes, then got mowed over. Apparently very easy to hit lower limbs and unscrew the cap off. I used a zip tie to connect it to the mower so that doesn't happen again. That tiny strap that goes down into a clip on area is laughable. They need to go back to the drawing board on that one. It Doesn’t Fit
The gas cap to my Briggs and Stratton motor had a small leak so I scanned the QR code located on the motor and it came back with this part number. The only problem, the brand new cap leaked much worse than the old cap. I ended up taking the o-ring off the new cap and putting it on the old cap (so the old cap now has 2 o-rings, one in the correct location and one towards the top of the cap). I would not recommend buying a new gas cap unless yours is completely broken. If your cap is leaking like mine was, by a second o-ring or I’ve even read about people using a rubber band as a second o-ring towards the top of the cap to stop the leaking.Read full review

Brand new, OE part as listed! Fit my 28" Craftsman Pro walk-behind with the 223cc engine perfectly!
After 5 or 6 years of running my Craftsman Pro 28" walk-behind mower (with the 223cc Briggs and Stratton engine), the little tether that holds the fuel cap to the mower broke off. I've had it happen before that while mowing under bushes and trees with low branches, the branches knock the cap lose and the only thing that kept me from running over the cap was the fact that it was tethered in place, so I figured it would be a good idea to replace this sooner rather than later.
This was a simple replacement, took not even 2 minutes, everything fit perfectly, and we're back to mowing!

Not a functioning gas cap for my model
I should have listened to what the one review said about not staying on. It does screw in & cover the hole. It does not stay on when moving.

Not A Replacement
This gas cap does not work as a replacement for the 799585 UNLESS you add an extra o-ring to snug it down. Otherwise, it vibrates loose within a few seconds of starting and your gas spills up/out. Thankfully, I still had the old cap and simply took the o-ring from that one and added to the new one and it works fine now :)Read full review

once I figures out how to mount it on an engine that I couldn't find a replacement tank for... It worked great...

Why can't they make gas caps that work?
I had to buy this replacement gas cap because the first one fell off because it doesn't lock in place. Just make universal size threaded gas caps for God's sake- ones that work!

Cap fit is pretty loose
It appears to be a factory part.
As other reviewers noted, the fit is pretty loose.
Will see how much it leaks when I use it next mowing season.
