Lightweight, fast, great trigger, great features for the price.

My son and I were in a local sporting goods store looking at crossbows before our upcoming early bow season and saw the Barnett Raptor FX3 Pro. We both liked the lightweight and narrow platform on it as well as the pass through forearm similar to other higher end crossbows on the rack. We noticed that it had more camo on it (the riser) than the Barnett Raptor FX2 and where the FX2 had black plastic (buttstock, cheek piece and hand grip) the FX3 Pro had black rubber. This really made it feel better in holding it and with placing my cheek onto it. The FX2's buttstock will adjust in or out for personal preference with length of pull but the FX3 Pro is already a longer platform so it will not. I noticed it had a Trigger Tech trigger like the FX2 so after shooting it in the sporting goods store and with it being on sale, I bought it. I will mention we also looked at the Barnett Whitetail Hunter Pro which is exactly identical in every way / specs to the Raptor FX3 Pro except the camo pattern but the FX3 Pro was on sale and the Whitetail Hunter Pro was not which is the only reason I chose the FX3 Pro over the Whitetail Hunter Pro.

First the cons. It came with a 3 arrow quiver but only 2 arrows are supplied. It is rated 380 fps but only with a 380 grain arrow and manual / warranty mandates nothing lighter than a 400 grain arrow. Other than that, nothing else strikes me as a negative.

It is a very light, narrow platform and easy to hold, carry and shoot. The two arrows supplied are 20" arrows and I noticed they only go out far enough past the rail but remain in the riser valley /shelf. The broadheads I am using are fixed and over 1" blades so if they weren't turned just right the blade hit the shelf and made the arrow rise up off of the rail. So I purchased some 22" arrows and they go out past the shelf but still between the riser and foot stirrup. My arrows and broadhead combination is 402 grains and I'm getting 368 fps with this setup. Not the advertised speed but fast and close enough for me. One complaint I had read is that the arrow does not fit flush with the rail. I did notice that the supplied 20" arrow sat up just a fraction on the crossbow (not really enough to be a concern) but the 22" arrows I bought sit as flush as my Tornado did. I would guess the extra length from the 22" arrow is the reason. The specs on the FX3 Pro do state "inlaid aluminum rail" so I would guess it will only be as straight as the composite stock it is screwed onto rather than being a full aluminum rail like my Tornado had. Regardless, I guess I got a good rail because I have no issues with arrows rising up on me. The scope supplied is decent, good clarity but I use an illuminated Hawke scope so I really didn't need it. The Trigger Tech trigger on it is as good as any Trigger Tech trigger I have used on crossbows in the past; Parker, Excalibur and Mission. My FX3 trigger breaks just a little shy of 3 pounds so I will round it off to 3 pounds.

I have taken 3 deer with it so far and have shot it many times in my backyard. The string and cables are not showing any wear or separation and all bolts and screws have remained intact. I have had to tighten the main bolt that connects the limbs / riser to the stock one time but that is normal with any crossbow only using one bolt. I had another very expensive crossbow in the past that I was constantly re-tightening the main bolt.

If any problems pop up after this review I will update my review but I'm pretty confident that I will not have to. So far I am very happy and pleased with my Raptor FX3 Pro crossbow.

Barnett Raptor fx3 Pro

No hyp here ! 400 gr arrow clocks at 380! Bloodsport arrows that came with it weight 430 gr and clock at 360! They seem to be most accurate of all i've tried. Shoots fantastic and has a rifle like trigger with zero creep and a 3 lb break. Glad i sold my ten point, i'd put this bow up against any and at a third of the price !Read full review

Best bang for your buck

I bought this crossbow after about a month of research on every bow out there. Tried out a couple different Excalibur, tenpoint, and Barnett and a couple offbrands that some buddy's owned and the fx3 pro preforms just as good or better than the ones that were $1000+. Great quality, fully camo, 360 fps and very accurate up to 80 yards(so far). I highly recommend this product to anyone from beginners up to the prosRead full review

Barnett fx3 pro

Like the bow seems to be made well, instructions for putting together suck, step 1 install limbs, step 2 install bracket for quiver, wrong have to put quiver bracket on 1st or it won't slide on past the limbs, extra parts for different models confuse you, the plastic quiver lock is junk I pushed it in to release quiver and the spring and button just fell out on the floor, the bow itself is awesome very fast fairly quiet and easy to cock I would give 5 stars other than the instructions and quiver ,I would definitely buy anotherRead full review

Very happy

This is my second xbow. Both are Barnett. Very happy with both. The Raptor FX3 pro is light weight, narrow and very maneuverable. Dead of winter here in Michigan, so I haven't shot it yet. Option to mount quiver either parallel or perpendicular to the rail. Scope looks decent, but since it is not illuminated, I switched it out for a Browning red dot. The vendor got it to me super fast at a VERY reasonable price.Read full review

Extremely accurate..!

I decided to go with Raptor FX3 Pro after reading a lot of reviews. Assembly was a breeze. Sighted in just a few shots. This thing is Accurate.! Stacked arrows at 90 yards. The 3rd arrow was only an inch high. Haven't shot it through a chrono yet, but its fast.Read full review

Great Crossbow...Fast

The bow itself is amazing. Although the scope is ok in good light but not so much in lower light. So for hunting purposes you may have to purchase a new scope. I would purchase this bow again for the price. Good Buy!Read full review

Need to make thr bracket better for the arrow quiver.

Mechanism for the arrow quiver broke the first time I used it. The spring flew out and there were two pieces or plastic that fell out also. I have to contact Barnett soon.

Great Crossbow

I bough this crossbow for my Granddaughter. I have a Barnett Brotherhood that I love, and this Barnett Wildcat C6 shoots just as mine. Both right on target and both hit hard.

Raptor FX3 Pro

Everything it supposed to be. Shoots 371 fps with 416 grain arrow, can't complain about that. Trigger is awesome, great piece of equipment to own.
