Bison outboard 55lb

I bought this to replace a minkota 3hp engine I have had for over 30 years. It was cheaper than the mintoka despite the many years between purchases. First use and I was getting a bit worried going through the gears that it wasn't powerful enough but the difference between 4th and 5th gears is considerable and in top gear my boat powered along. At bit early to see how power use works out or to see if it is as hard wearing as that minkota but first impressions is very good.Read full review

Good engineering poor fittings.

The design and quality of the engineering is very good. I have used the outboard for around 15 hours and has performed well. Sadly the crocodile clips which were all shining copper colour went rusty within days. Now need regular cleaning to get a good connection. They will need replacing soon. The "stainless" bolts and screws are not made of marine grade (A4) stainless and are rusting and need a grease covering especially the clamps. Shame for a few pence more this item would be worth 5 star. Read full review

Bison 55ft lb outboard

Iv only used the bison 55ft lb outboard the once so far but it powered my sniper 10 dory style boat well. Top speed I want to say was around 4mph 5mph but is ample to get out on the river for a spot of fishing. Will also come in handy on the boats I hire on sum of the private broads Read full review

Silent Running

These electric outboard motors are the way ahead. The heavy part is the battery that you buy separately.

Bolt the motor on, connect the terminals via the crocodile clips and away you go.

I have used this motor twice since buying it and I was surprised by the power of it, it moves a boat with 2 people and their fishing gear effortless, better than some motors that are much more expensive.
