ATH-M50x full stop
The headphones are great. Solid sound quality. It's decent nonetheless. The build quality is adequate. It's mostly plastic, with a foam coated band between the two pieces of plastic. The earpads are lacking. I'd recommend getting a different(better) set of ear pads. I mean they're not bad... at first. But the padding is nonexistent in the ear pads that came with the headphones. Other than that, for me, I got a nifty bag, three different cords, two useful ones and, then the one that I needed, that is all of 2' long and impractical, unless I was somehow in a romantic relationship with my pc (-1 star). The cords have a nifty locking mechanism so they can lock into the headphones. 4/5 would bangRead full review

This is the...
This is the best headphones I ever have the pleasure of owning. I've had Bose and Beats. While the Bose Quiet comfort 15, and has a excellent noise canceling, the 50x has build has a better build (the QC15 headphones were literally cracking and falling apart) and for them (Bose)were so expensive that shouldn't happen at all. The 50x has also have a balanced sound and doesn't have base drowning out the singer or in the case of jazz , you can pick up most if not all of the instruments. I recently purchased a attachment to turn this phone wireless.BAL-M50X, outstanding.Read full review

Tried and true headphones
The ATH-M50x are the best all purpose headphones your money can buy. In the studio the sound you hear is uncolored and natural. They're comfortable on your ears leaving you with less fatigue after a long session.
The cable plug "lock" is a great feature that gives you the option of three different cable lengths to choose from and in my opinion, they solved the problem of the first place the cable usually breaks on typical headphones. They're well made and will last a very long time.Read full review

Great sound but not as comfortable as I expected
Overall, it has great sound, style, and I love the detachable cables. Though, compared to my Sennheisers, they're not that comfortable. Hopefully I gain a "feel" for them like I did my Sennheisers. My Sennheisers were almost unbearable to wear when I first got them.Read full review

Not comfortable
I have a small head and the smallest setting on these had the phones resting on my jaw in a way that was uncomfortable. Also, I have larger ears and these just pressed on them that after 15mins caused them to hurt. After all the reviews I read, I expected better comfort, just not for me. I went back to Sennheiser HD280 Pros. The cord on the last pair shorted after about 15 years which was pretty darned good. Don't don't have quite the bass response of the ATH-M50X, nor the detachable cord, but the comfort is far superior for me.Read full review

Not perfect, but impeccable quality-price ratio.
The frequency balance isn't perfectly flat like you would want from a good pair of monitors, but these have far fewer peaks and valleys than many others in this price tier. And there's only one peak I've found that's dynamic enough to really be problematic.
The frequency response is great. it goes above and beyond what I need and my mixes are improved because of it. I didn't realize how much I was overcompensating for sub-par monitors in my mixes until I heard the clarity of these cans.
These aren't marketed as noise canceling (and shouldn't be) but I will say they do a surprisingly fine job of isolating your sound.Read full review

ATH-M50x + FiiO E6 make a good couple
I bought the Audio Technica m50x and FiiO E6 amplifier to use with my Audio Technica LP-120 turntable. Turned out to be a match made in heaven. I keep the FiiO amp paired with the headphones and can just plug direct into the turntable. I don't have the technical jargon but I can tell you it works good. The FiiO is the size of a matchbook and weighs next to nothing but it gives you volume control and balance. I listen mostly to classical guitar, symphony and chamber music and with the FiiO plugged into the mix, I can hear separation between the various instruments, without the FiiO the music kind of hits you "all at once." The M50 headphones are best I have ever heard, most comfortable, most adjustable, most "can't think of any reason to try anything else" headphones; like a good companion in life, when you finally find what you've always been looking for, just stick with him/her.Read full review

Practically New
Previously I owned the standard M50s for a few years, but recently I had a short in the wires. I decided to pick up a new pair and saw this for just under $100. When it arrived it was practically new, all the original packaging was almost perfect, and the head phones and all of their cables were in mint condition. Sound quality was great, I have no complaints what so ever.Read full review

Very good for an amateur audiophile
Nice clean sound, rich low end bass, crisp clear high frequencies and can tell when the recording is a little hot in the midrange. Like the detachable cords which are handy for different uses either on the computer or large mixer board. Great stereo separation. I have a plethora of different kind of music and they performed well.Read full review

Amazing sound quality, not so amazing comfort.
Needs some light EQ corrections to negate some of the V-shape and overly sharp treble, but otherwise a great sounding headphone. One of the best closed backs without getting into $$$$.
Where these fail is comfort level. They are quite heavy and the band digs in to your head. Clamp force too tight. I used the "Stretch" method for the clamp force which definitely helped, and got a 3rd party wrap/pad for the headband. It helps a bit, but still not something I want ony my head for more than an hour or two.Read full review
