I highly doubt that there are better headphone with same price.
BEFORE READING:i'm by no means a professional nor an audiophile, i'm just a normal typical tech enthusiast, gamer and a movie/tv-series lover.
Positives: The sound is so crisp, great for gaming, music, movies. The headphones are very portable. You can wear them for hours and forget they're there. noise isolation is good.
Negatives:i though a lot about putting this one in the negative category because it may be relative, it lacks a very tiny bit in bass for my taste, and there could have been a better bag/case than the included. and as for the the bass there's a good solution that will boost bass, amp volume level. and it's purchasing an entry level Bass Boost Amplifier i went with FiiO E10K USB DAC it's great but not a life a changer. And that's it enjoy :)Read full review

Great price for great Headphones
These are world changing headphones for beginners.
The sound is not rich in any particular equalizer frequency it's plain fat and you can feel it's weight on your head however despite the sound being flat that is good because that way you can enjoy the whole song/music and they are really comfortable to wear. I find myself wearing them for an hour straight with no problem.
Great headphones to buy. I recommend! Read full review

Cheap M50x pads
What do you expect for five bucks? Replaced original, heavily used, ripped pads with a set of these cheapo’s. Fitment seems a bit loose and pads may rotate around on cup. Original pads had a rubberized backing that prevented slippage of pad on cup. While these are not the same quality as original, they do feel nice on the cranium and sound quality was not sacrificed. Btw, oem pads were pleather as well. Ok for price, but if looking for premium...open wallet up and fork over more bucks to another manufacturer. I do like that these feel fresh and allow plenty of room to fit over my ears.Read full review

Excellent headphones!
This M50x is an excellent headphone set. I could instantly hear the difference between these and the M30s that I previously had. These earphones help to filter the sound and present it in more layered format, so that you can better distinguish highs and low audio frequencies when your mixing and mastering your track via a Digital Audio Workstation utilized on your laptop or PC. But the amplifier within your computer also has a lot to do with what you hear with these earphones. For example, the limited amp size inside a smartphone means that the musical range / audible output that you hear will be limited, regardless of the quality of your earphones.
Still, this product is a good buy for a home studio.Read full review

Some Great Cans!
I love these! Great sound, but a bit boosted on the low-end. However, if you listen to bass-heavy music, or on bass-heavy headphones, you won't notice! Even if you do, unless you just absolutely want perfect sound depictions, these will work fine for producing! Even though I need to take more breaks while mixing, I know, these are actually quite comfortable worn for hours at a time. But be careful! Wait too long, and you find ear-soreness will await you in the morning! All in all though, solid pair of cans, and they will get the job done without disappointment, whether they be for the audiophile listener or the veteran producer! Would totally recommend to any DJ or producer out there looking for some quality headphones, it's almost guaranteed to be what you're looking for!Read full review

Exceptionally detailed sound
I needed something better than my aging Bose QC2s for doing mixing / EQ work. The Bose are OK. These are truly great. I am hearing levels subtlety that I'd never heard before in both my recordings, and my fairly broad music collection. The optional Bluetooth adapter is also well-designed, and has excellent sound - almost can't tell if I'm using it or a cable. Highly recommend.Read full review

Great sound from a computer.
Am using these headphones with my "gaming system" I don't really game much anymore due to arthritis, so I listen to music when taking a break from gaming. My computer is built with a z97pro mainboard and using onboard audio, with that computer and headphone combination I have the best audio I have ever experienced with a computer.
When I first received the headphones the sound was gritty to my ears and bass was flat, I put Carmina Barana on a loop and played it at listening volume for approx 24 hrs, then the sound began opening up and bass response was as it should be, and sound quality seems to be improving each time I put them on.
Mostly listen to flac's, most of the time the eq is flat, just need to tweak the eq a bit on some albums to make my ears very happy, these ears are 65 years old though, one with undamaged hearing may not need to adjust the equalizer.
Plenty of bass, especially in games and nice highs as well as midrange, not much sound stage due to being closed headphones, but there is enough to make a person feel like they are sitting in the band.
Cannot speak highly enough of these headphones, my ears haven't been this happy in a few years. For the price you are getting a very high quality headphone that feels like it will last quite some time. Read full review

Not worth MSRP, but worth about 130 dollars.
Great sound quality and very comfy pads that leave no strain on my ears, but these headphones weigh down on my head and make my neck uncomfortable. If you can't find these for relatively cheap ( 130 dollars) or want to spend a bit more, I'd go with the DT770 + an amp. I haven't used the DT770 yet, but the headband looks far more comfortable on those, and research has pointed to those having better sound quality when paired with an amp. You can find those for relatively cheap as well, but with an amp, they'll leave you spending at least around 30 dollars more. If you're on a budget, look for these for a good deal used or perhaps the M40x instead. Check the title and description to ensure that they're working properly. I found these on sale for cheaper than the M40x and wasn't too disappointed with the quality, although I would definitely suggest investing in a DT770 with an amp instead if you can afford the 30+ dollar difference. Not only will the sound quality likely be better, but I have a good feeling that they will be more comfortable as well.Read full review

Balanced, love them, minor brainectomy
I've had the chance to compare the M40x and M50X, both sound great, have soft comfortable pads, and a solid build. The clamping force can be a bit much, but a bit of spacer training will solve that.r>
M50x has a clean balanced sound signature, the bass isn't overdone and highs don't feel like knives. I love the way my songs sound and you can listen to podcasts on a bus without maxing out the volume, but even if you do, no one next to you will hear it. Very similar to Ultrasone HFI-580 btw.
M40x has a deep bass signature that can feel cloudy, almost muddy at times, your music will sound great without a comparison but you'll quickly notice the difference in clarity once you do. It's still heads and shoulders above your cellphone earbuds, but in a direct competition, it falls short.
M30x will be no contest, they lose on clarity, highs and bass. Comfortable but so much smaller your ears will touch the inside pad liner.
I'm glad I chose the M50x, knowing how they are, I would have kicked myself for having gone with the M40x. The clamps will try to give you a brainectomy, just spread them open a couple times for 3-5 seconds before use, and put a couple books in between when not using them.Read full review

A Great Set of Headphones for a Great Price
The ATH-M50x headphones are awesome. I'm not as technical as many of the professionals in Nashville, but I work on a podcast that I edit heavily. I could tell an immediate difference in sound compared to the other headphones and buds Be used over the years. You get a full sound from these phones, though it might not be quite true neutral. It does a great job without needing to spend hundreds of dollars. I wear them about 5-6 hours a day and they stay pretty comfy for me during that stretch.Read full review
