Audio Technica AT 440mlb
This is a great sounding a cartridge. It arrive within the time allotted and great new packaging. The new cartridege was replacing my Denon DL 110-moving coil, which had been showing it's age when the suspension at the needle/cantilever began to get weaker and weaker and wobbly. I was surprised to see new connecting wires with the AT 440 mlb for the cartridge to the tone arm. And while Initially I connected the cartridge with the old wires, after putting in the new wires, the sound definitely improved in terms of clarity-bass and high end. Highly recommended.Read full review

One of the best cartridges at any price!
Quite simply one of the finest moving magnet cartridges made. Even at it's modest price, it performs like a cartridge costing much more. It has great low frequency, accurate midrange and where it shines is in the high frequency. Makes you want to break out all your old records and listen to them all over gain just to ear what you've been missing. Also, since the micro-line stylus tracks deeper into the grooves, it doesn't seem to play as many pops and clicks. Inner groove distortion is kept to a bare minimum as the micro-line stylus is far better than elliptical units. Hundreds of positive reviews out there so get one while you can before they become out of stock.Read full review

the AT440mlb
Interesting / relatively easy to install, the cartridge and stylus are solid on the low end and sensitive on the mids and highs...Snare drums, female vocals excellent...I replaced an Ortofon on a Rega turntable and I think I've bought my last cartridge...The .12 stylus really tracks the grooves cleanly....(You had better pick one of these up before they are gone)....GregRead full review

Awesome sound!
Great articulation, soundstage and separation. I am playing some Gaucho, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Sting, Beatles. It does everything very well. using a Denon mid-mass tonearm/turntable. This cartridge is perfectly suited for this arm. I also use a Shure V15 III and a Grace F9e. The Grace is a great cartridge, but not so much on this tonearm. The AT 440 is perfect for this arm. Not much siblance in the high end and the low end is tight, but full. Tracks very very well. Adjust this cartridge on the headshell and arm, and you have vinyl heaven.Read full review

AT 440MLB
The AT 440MLB has replaced a well used Ortofon 2M Red, in a modified SME 3009 Mk2 Imp arm. After perhaps a dozen LP's, and loaded with under 150pF total (interconnects and phono stage) and 32k, I would make the following comparisons:
- It tracks better than the 2M Red, not getting 'edgy' in the inner grooves or on high modulation passages.
- The treble is better defined, mid-range less forward but pleasing, bass a little lighter in balance but tight and quite extended. (This cartridge and predecessors are often described as bright, but on this my first experience of one, I would rather describe it as a little lighter in tone and more refined than the bottom of the range 2M Red.)
- Detail retrieval in complex orchestral works for instance is better, and the sound-stage a bit more 'spacious'.
- Fitment was a more fiddly without the tapped body, and the significantly finer stylus and cantilever made alignment a little harder.
- The stylus does seem to pick up more dust out of the groove, but all the more reason to do the necessary task of cleaning. However, it doesn't seem to reveal surface noise quite as much.
Overall a definite step up from the 2M Red to my ears in my system, which is as it should be considering the price differential.Read full review

Great Audio Technica cart
although it is already discontinued, the MLB is superior in sound and channel separation to the MLA. the The VM540ML MicroLine® which is the actual replacement for the MLA / B is good option but IMO dont beat the MLB
If youre into rock, 70's 80's or even dance music rip vinyls to FLAC or WAV this is the cart to be purchased the best on the price range. outstanding sound, IGD (inner groove distortion) is handled perfectly.
Clear high frequency and bass mids are clean. all time favoriteRead full review

Audio Technical MM Pickup Cartridge AT 440 MLB
I’ve tried several different cartridges and this one, by far, for the price, is a performer. I have an Audio Technica turntable (1240 series).
