Music Recording Studio

This machine smokes! Many recording programs installed along with an SD drive with accelerator card...RAM is sufficient for the task and the hard drive is huge. Looking forward to making music!

Old and Reliable

This older Apple computer full of great, reliable hardware design. However, the 32-bit architecture limits the operation of the computer with Apple software, and is a bit slower than I would have liked. However, with a few adjustments to the OS and some well-needed maintenance the tower runs like brand new!Read full review

For a 10 year old computer, it is awesome

I bought this machine because I needed something that was solid, still fast, and didn't need to be something new. I also love the style of the case and how solid these are. Despite being locked into OS X 10.7 Lion, it can still run the few apps I needed.

Pros: lots of room for memory and hard drive. Very solid and heavy case
Cons: Locked into OS X 10.7

10 years later, still a work of art

I've been using this model for a decade after my previous machine lasted an incredible 8 years! What did I do after the old girl gave out? Bought another, upgraded 2006 Mac Pro and am ecstatic with the performance. No, it won't run Yosemite because of hardware limitations, but I'm fine with Snow Leopard. Easy to upgrade and maintain, you can't beat the value (under $400!) These machines are absolute workhorses and perfect for multimedia professionals or anyone looking to make the switch to Mac without breaking the bank. Strongly recommended, even after all these years.Read full review

Outstanding computer for the price.

The computer was in amazingly good shape given the the fact that it was used, and the age of the computer. It looked new. Everything worked. I bought this machine to find out if OS X / Apple would serve my purposes. I didn't want to buy an expensive new Mac and find out I couldn't use the computer for the job I had in mind. The computer filled the bill wonderfully, and is a useful piece of hardware. I would recommend this computer to anyone, with the warning that this computer will not support the later versions of OS X. For common tasks, and the jobs most people will be doing this computer is a wonderful computer at a very reasonable price. Check the software you intend to use, and see if it requires an OS X version later than 10.7.5. If it does I'd look at a different machine, but I think you'd have to be doing something rather unusual for that to be a problem. At the time of this writing the current version of OS X is 10.11.Read full review

Such a time saver if you want to upgrade a Mac 1.1 to use El Capitan

This drive + a used Apple Geforce 8800GT from eBay + 10 mins to swap out the hardware and I have a "new" Mac Pro 1.1 running El Capitan. Seriously, it just can't get any easier than this. Sure, you can find instructions online on how to upgrade and they may work for you, but this was just too simple to even want to try anything else. Great product!Read full review

New To MAC With No MAC Skills

I have been using Windows since it was loaded over DOS but since the introduction of W 10 I had it. W 10 is ugly and looks like a collection of note cards . Also problems started occurring with my windows 7 with video driver conflicts between explorer (desktop) and internet explorer. Got a old MAC Pro 1,1 and found that it would not run the latest OS.
I saw this drive here on eBay and gave it a try. No complicated skills required. Pop open the cover and change out the drive turn on the computer and you are there. Love it !!

Mac is the way to go.

Macs are a pleasure to own and operate, and here you can find an exceptional deal. Looking forward to future purchases through Ebay regarding these wonderful machines.

Specifically, though, a Mac Pro, A1186, might be an older version of a great product, but you really cannot beat it's performance for everyday and office use. It's a win/win.Read full review

Well worth the money

All I had to do is boot from it , clone to new larger drive , shut down and remove smaller drive and reboot . All the tools were on the drive necessary to do the task 😀 . This would have taken me weeks to accomplish . Like a brand new computer . I am using a 1.1 flashed to 2.1 , 2 2.6 quad bought off eBay 35 .00 and a genuine at I 5700 bought off eBay 24 gigs of ram works like a dreamRead full review

Still good computer for all sorts of different tasks.

For a first generation Macintosh Pro replacing the G5 line it still is plenty fast and holds it own against brand new computers. Plus there are tricks to install the latest MacOS's on the machine. I use it for web design and music production. It was a bit tricky to clean but in the end it is a very decent computer especially for the price I paid which was around $160 for a computer that used to cost thousands. If your looking for an upgrade from the older Apple G4 G5 series this is worth the money spent.Read full review
