Lightweight wheelchair

Purchased for occasional use for my 93 year old mother who is limited to the distance she can walk.
This wheelchair is extremely light and manageable and extremely good value for money. Easy to fold/unfold and will fit quite easily in to most small cars, if not in the boot, then inside the car. It looks good and benefits from a good braking system. No need to assemble it each time it is used. The only thing needed on its arrival was the height adjustment of the footrests but with the spanner provided this was a five minute job.

Lightweight wheelchair dangerous design defect

Purchased this wheelchair for my wife's visit to Buckingham Palace.
The wheel chair was found to be almost useless on a normal pavement and paved surface because of a major design and manufacturing defect
In use, if the wheelchair encounters a very slight ridge or gap in the paved surface it stops suddenly, and tips the occupant forwards and out of the chair.
When the problem is analysed the front castor wheels are welded and fixed not forward of the centre of gravity. They are also not welded in a true vertical plane and lean back slightly.
Altogether a very unstable wheelchair NOT suited to transport a person.
Would NOT purchase again. Very dangerous piece of equipment.

AMW 1863 Ultra Lightweight Wheelchair

Although the Wheelchair supplied to by the NHS to assist my wife's recovery after recent stroke, did the job. I found heavy to push especially as we live on a hill it was also cumbersome lifting in and out of the car.
