well built quality and excellent video resolution
The camera is well built and easy to setup. The video quality is excellent but the audio is somewhat dim and low coming in from built in mic. the good thing is that you can connect your own mic and your own speaker in to the camera unit and fix the problem. The night vision is excellent. need a good internet connection if you are on wifi and a solid strong signal.
I am very satisfied with the camera so far. Only had a 1 day use out of it so far and I am loving this little thing.

Good value for the price, awful software makes this a hard sell
The Amcrest 1080p camera was very easy to set up. The hardware is well designed and executed. The pictures and video it produces are of very good quality in varying light conditions. With daylight the picture is sharp and the image resolution allows zooming into parts of the frame without blur even when streaming is set at 720p, which is configurable. The IR night vision works great. From the camera position in a corner, I can clearly see my entire large living room and kitchen, and another 15ft of hallway through my front door. The camera supports remote pan and tilt, plus two-way audio which can be turned on and off each way. My only wish about the device is that it was smaller and looked less like a camera.
Unfortunately the solid hardware is let down but a truly terrible software. It must have been created by the engineers who designed the camera because it is crammed with practically every feature you'd need in an intuitive menu with confusing options, complete lack of context help, similar features controlled in unrelated parts of the menus, prompts to save when you've made no changes, and frequent failures to connect to the camera from outside networks.
The cloud offering, which is a separate app, is practically useless in the free form. The only advantage is that it always manages to connect, which is helpful when the p2p app cannot.
Overall I don't regret my purchase but I think most people would be so confused and turned off by the software they wouldn't be able to use the camera.Read full review

Decent Indoor PTZ for the Money
GUI Could be better and playback is not the most intuitive either, but features such as recording directly to NAS, PTZ preset/tours, external relay, 2way audio, and good low light performance make these stand out. Effective, but some dificulties to get the WI-FI to recognize.
The unit is superbly well packed by Amcrest factory. Instructions were helpful however the Wi-fi configuration is not as friendly.
I would recommend to skip all together the Wi-Fi set up and go directly to the Ethernet Wi-Fi steps. Basically connect the camera with Ethernet cable to the router, follow the Ethernet Wi-Fi steps (not the Wi-Fi), complete the set up, then remove the cable from the router for a complete Wi-Fi benefit.
The mobile AP works well but the Pan-tilt portion is too fast, and with some lag, hard to control. Using the Amcrest Surveillance Pro desktop program is much controlable. Coincidently, this program could use a better help or user manual.

Small camera with nice features.
This camera is a excellent choice. The picture quality is excellent. I have the amcrest pro view app installed on my iPhone and i can view a very clear picture from anywhere. It has a zoom feature on the camera that you can control from your cell phone, it also has 2 way audio. I like the camera so much Iam purchasing 2 more, this is how good they work.Read full review

Not fully developed into a good product at this stage.
Shipping was good and so was the description. However the software and unit are not very user friendly. It takes a while to learn how to navigate the soft ware in order to get the unit to do what you want it to do for you. One day you wake up to the unit not recording and can't get it to record unless you uninstall the software and reinstall it. This seems to happen quite often especially when wire less. There is however less problems when you use the Ethernet cable. I call support and talked to a guy named lake, he tried to fix issues with the unit but could not and promised to call me back to finish solving the problem. He never called back. This also happened with another support member. Over all if givin the choice on weather to buy this unit , I would say that there has to be something out there that is much better and never needs support to fix such nuisance problems. Shipment was FAST. The camera set up has a learning curve but that is OK. It does so much and need to learn more. Armcrest Security vs. Nest security - ARMCREST is WINNER here!
I had decided last year that I wanted to change out some of my home's security features from a monitored system by a service to a private security system that I setup and administer myself, as well as be able to remotely control my smart appliances. I was skeptical because Nest sets a feature quality precedence for smart appliances (thermostat, security systems, etc.)
When I compared the Armcrest system to the Nest system, I saw no difference in feature sets. 2.5 mHz is the reason that this one is such a great buy. The power frequency used is moving to 5.0 mHz, but most smart appliances are 2.5 mHz, offering an option of 5.0 mHz, but not both on the same appliance. This is why this is the best buy on the web right now as far as private security goes!

Nice little camera, but........
This is a nice little camera with good video in natural indoor light during daylight hours. However, I have been unable to get good video in very low light situations such as night time. Perhaps it needs more tweaking that is beyond my expertise.

Great camera, tough setup
Camera is not as easy to setup as scanning qr code on the bottom. You need to download program on computer and plug to ethernet to be setup properly. They work great after they are completely setup. Though refurbished they look like new.Read full review
