Okay for the price

This was purchased to back up/replace and older more expensive Acer chromebook that worked fine for several years but now has developed charging issues. This new Acer C738T-C44Z has a very cheap plastic lid and casing, yet it is very heavy, and pages take longer to open up even though it was supposed to be much faster than the original Acer chromebook models. For about the same money I could have purchased the Asus Flip, which is half the weight and nicer casing. Well designed, good battery life, useful

I had high expectations and this Acer Chromebook really fit my wants and needs. I sort of wanted a tablet with a keyboard, and it turns out that's what this is in every way that matters.

The overall construction is mostly plastic (the lid does have an aluminum plate), but the plastic is really sturdy and doesn't show finger prints. The only dislike I have is the trackpad, which doesn't feel sturdy, but the cursor moves where I put it and every click and scroll registers. The IPS touch display, 360 hinges, and Android app support really made this an attractive option for me.

It actually weighs a little more than I expected of a laptop with an 11.6" screen and 0.76" thickness, but it's still very portable.

I don't often achieve 10 hours on a full charge, but I do get plenty from each charge. I've probably also spent at least an hour out of each cycle playing android games since getting this chromebook, and that consumes quite a bit of power. In any case, I don't have to plug it in often, and it pretty much goes 0-100% in about 45 minutes.

Also, bear in mind that there's a lot Chrome OS will do that the Chrome browser will not do.Read full review

my refurbished Acer Hinge

loving this handy little notebook. still learning my way around it, but it’s a quick study. haven’t used a computer since i got my phone about 6&1/2 years ago. but needed one for a new hobby. had an asus netbook but the battery needed replacing, decided to go with the Hinge instead, and i’m really glad i did! what a bargain at around $65 including shipping and tax.
