Best processor in its price class

As an architect I use design software that is heavily multi-threaded where more cores means faster renders so I can do more in less time. I could have gone for the 3950x but that was out of my budget. Within the £400 envelope nothing else can touch this.

Whilst there are better CPU's for gaming that appreciate faster single core boost speeds this still has enough omph for lighter work loads. Overall it smokes everything I have had before in speed and efficiency.

The included box cooler is ok, it gets the job done. But really to keep this in check and give it the best opportunity to bost the highest for the longest time especially with PBO and auto oc enabled on a high quality board like the x570 arous master with hefty power delivery you should be water-cooling or using a massive tower HSF. I have mine on a custom loop with the GPU with a 360+240mm rad and it's a dream, cool and quiet.Read full review

Excellent price and performance

Excellent price and performance. I bought this to replace my Intel 9600k based system. In terms of day to day use I didn't notice much difference but for recording it is a significant improvement.>
The included wraith cooler is very good but can be a little bit on the loud side, my system was constantly ramping up and down until I replaced it with an sealed loop water cooler. Be warned - the thermal paste was so strong on the wraith cooler that it ripped the chip out of the socket when I removed it, bending 2 of the pins. I managed to re align them with a knife blade but it was worrying!

Seriously powerful - reasonable price.

Upgraded from a 3rd gen i7. Night and day difference. I run Linux Mint, so it took less than 4 mins to install the whole OS and experience by far the fastest processor I have ever seen. Editing audio and transcoding video is blisteringly fast. It also runs quietly and cool with the supplied Wraith cooler. The cpu is easy to clip onto my mb and the cooler was very simple to install. Amazing processor

I upgraded from a Ryzen 7 1700 to this, and the performance increase was absolutely amazing. To be able to jump 2 generations up and use the same socket is such a benefit, and the upgrade was well worth the cost, which was actually very reasonable indeed.Read full review

Rounded and quiet cpu

This cpu keeps at a relatively cool temperature during intensive sessions, which helps keep the fans quiet, a problem I've had with other cpus.
