Replacement whistle for copper kettle,

I ordered the wrong type of whistle. I needed a 40mm whistle for an ordinary copper gas hob kettle.i still need a copper whistle for my kettle. Any help would be appreciated. Mr George Mcçrum .1 Marx crescent Stanley Co Durham DH96LA.

Not as good as the original whistle

This was a replacement because the spring broke in the original whistle. I don't know what's different about this replacement but, when it blows, the knob gets really hot and if it is still whistling when you pull it out of the spout, expect to have your fingers scalded! Also, the previous whistle used to build up - quietly at first and, as steam pressure increased, it got louder. The replacement seems unable to sound until full pressure is reached and then it sounds at full throttle. Sure, it's loud but, sometimes, I like a bit of warning so that I can take the kettle off the heat before I go deaf. My solution was to remove the spring and fit it in the old whistle. Sadly, this makes for a very expensive spring replacement!Read full review

Whistling kettle whistle

Like every one I have brought previously, it works fine for a couple of months and then stops working.
Wen I was a kid (many, many years ago) a kettle whistle worked for years and years and never needed to be replaced. What went wrong? We have smart phones but can't make a kettle whistle for more than a couple of months.Read full review

Need to sort out the whistle

The whole problem is the whistle - which is kind of important for a whistling kettle. It is hard to hear from outside the kitchen; it gets so hot you need a cloth to hold it; and it's made of some kind of plastic so when once the kettle boiled dry (easy to do if you can't hear the whistle) it melted. My previous kettle cost a tenth as much as this one and its whistle worked perfectly - I should just have got another one of those.Read full review

Use only with AGA kettle

I had hoped that this would work on my kettle - which isn't an AGA; however it only whistles very quietly and a lot of water is forced out of the kettle lid. Not a good fit for me, unfortunately.
