Better than the pictures suggest.
I had wanted to install a dashcam for some time now, but was always put-off by the enormous and clumsy sucker mounts that come with them, and I only decided to buy a NextBase dashcam when I discovered that one of these 'Stealth' mounts was available for it.
I got the dashcam before I ordered the Stealth Mount, just to see if it was as bad as I thought - and it was. The camera itself was perfect, but the monstrosity of a mount that came with it made it awkward to use.
I struggled to find a suitable location for it, because my car has a band of slightly raised black dots across the top of the windscreen, and the sucker won't stay attached there - and the only other place that I could use it (where it wasn't clashing with the mirror, or full in my face) prevented me from using the sun visor!
I was so relieved when the Stealth Mount arrived, and set about fitting it straight away.
First of all, I noticed that it is a lot better looking than the pictures suggest. The design is very thoughtfully crafted on a 3D printer, and I like the fact that it was produced with absolutely no waste of materials.
Everything you need is included - even an alcohol wipe to clean the glass and mounting plate before fixing the 3M adhesive pad.
At one point, I had the Stealth Mount in one hand, and the NextBase sucker contraption in the other, and couldn't help wondering how much better the product would have been overall if the Stealth Mount had been part of the original kit.
I seriously hope that the makers of the Stealth Mount have approached dashcam makers with the obvious proposition that would improve their products tenfold - and save them money in the process!
A few points to note:
1. When testing various locations, attach your dashcam to the Stealth Mount AND fit the power cable. I could have easily installed it in the most obvious location, but the stiff and slightly bulky power cable meant that I had to think again.
2. Make sure that the dashcam ends up looking out of a part of the windscreen that is swept by the wipers, or your footage will look pretty awful when it rains!
3. Allow enough room to detach the dashcam from the mount if necessary. Mine needs to slide to the left, so I allowed an extra 10mm - just in case.
4. Check that your sun visor can be lowered, and that you can still adjust your mirror without knocking the dashcam out of position.
4. You can use a dry board marker or some masking tape to mark the position before finally fixing the Stealth Mount in place. I have used these 3M fixing pads before, and always get excellent results if they are given 24 hours before putting any weight on them.Read full review

Does the job but expensive
This mount gets you away from the camera being in your line of sight as it can be installed behind the rear view mirror and is much better than the suction cup ones that occasionally fall off the glass.
There is enough position adjustment on the ball fitting but the ball feels a little slack and I think the camera may start to move eventually.
I think it was very overpriced I just cannot see twelve pounds in it but it was the only one of its type I could find anywhereRead full review

Good design for mounting the dash cam behind rear view mirror
I would recommend it for its design, and it is well made; however it keeps dropping off (four times so far) during hot weather, leaving the adhesive pad stuck on the windscreen. Problem seems to be because the surface of the mounting plate is too smooth, despite it appearing to be lightly scored. Since I roughened the surface of the mounting plate with a rotary burr and re-mounted it on the windscreen with a new adhesive pad, so far the problem seems to be rectified.Read full review

Stealthy
Arrived very quickly and within minutes, I had the mount stuck to the windscreen and the camera attached very securely.
Takes less room up on the windscreen as the sucker mount I had been using, I will not go back to that now I have the stealth.
First glance at the mount and it does look a little poor on the quality side but I have found this not to be true, especially after I had found the correct way of removing the camera from the mount.
I believe that the mount is made on a 3D printer and is not made in its thousands but in a lot less than that.
So far the mount has done what it is designed to do.
I personally cannot find fault, it has been in use since it arrived in my letterbox, over quite a few miles over a variety of roads etc and all without a problem.
I can recommend this mount 100% for anyone wanting to de-clutter their windscreen a little...
The only downside I can think of is that it should have been available a lot earlier!
I'm going to get another one for mounting a camera on the rear window. I know it will give me piece of mind.

Good Product
Good product that does the job, didn't realise it was 3D printed when purchasing but probably should have read the description. Don't expect to be taking the camera in and out of the car with you though as the clip isn't great. Luckily I keep the camera in the car at all times. As for the price, for a 3D printed part it's a little expensive. Considering I could get the same thing printed elsewhere and posted for a lot cheaper.Read full review

Essential replacement
After deciding I didn't want the stock suction mount covering half my windscreen I decided to give the StralthMount a go. Upon arrival I was surprised to receive such a comprehensive set up kit and fail proof instructions. The mount hides the camera behind the rear view mirror perfectly, I don't even know the camera is there. The 3D printed design is superb and sturdy, there's really is nothing else like it you can buy!

Could be better - stiffer ball and socket required
Very firm attachment overcomes rubber sucker mechanism that fails on hot days. However, the friction fit 'universal joint' is rather slack, resulting in the camera drooping when car goes over bumps.

Perfect problem solver.
I have a windscreen with a wiper & headlight sensor in that protrudes a long way down & is surrounded by black blobily tape so the sucker types are in drivers view so purchased this little beauty its for Next Base 512G & is stick on it cured the problem, easy fit no vibration perfect just one thing they are delicate be careful how you adjust it I definitely recommend it its not worth getting fined for obstructing the drivers view.Read full review

Great mount, great service!
I've bought four of these mounts, and am delighted with the service (each order arrived next day) and quality.
The suction mounts supplied by most makers leave the dashcam dangling quite a way down the windscreen. This means they get in the way and are in full sight.
I bought the stealth mounts because they allow you to mount your dashcam high up and out of the way. They are very easy to fit and well made.
