Great for control freaks

I've used several different sets of cells in this charger over the last 5 days with good results. Being able to charge each cell individually is a great feature which avoids undercharging or overcharging (and potentially damaging) individual cells. The 'discharge' programme drains the battery the recharges but gives you little information on completion. I used the 'refresh' programme on 2 cells I scrounged from a supermarket recycling bin... It identified a bad cell very quickly and managed to restore the other to a reasonable capacity - this will be good for anyone that uses a lot of rechargeable cells. The 'test' programme is very useful it fully charges, discharges and recharges to full; on completion it tells you the capacity of each cell. I find this preferable to the discharge programme because it gives more useful information. The 5V USB port works fine - also the provided adaptor doesn't heat up when in use - even though I've used the charger almost constantly for the last 5 days. The only real criticism I have is the instructions just explain what the displayed icons mean - it doesn't list and explain each function individually which would come in handy. Good value for money

I'm happy with the charger and it seems to work well although it's early days charging my NiMH batteries. The only criticism I have is that the LCD displays for battery positions 1 and 2 are not very easy to read (faint). Batteries are charged to 1.44V then FULL is shown on the display. I've yet to find out the lifespan of NiMH batteries I'm using but it all looks good so far.Read full review

Versatile battery charger.

Very versatile compared to standard chargers. The ability to be able to fully discharge batteries prior to re charging is a boon. The ability to set the charge rate for each battery is great if you need the batteries charged in a hurry. The only down side so far is the display, Its pretty small and I found a little hard to read at first but once you know how to use the charger as you want to use it, you'll know how many button pushes are required to get to where you want to be.

Great Intelligent AA Charger improving on the Technoline BL-700

This is a good upgrade to the similar Technoline BL-700 which has been available for some years. Charges battery cells on individual circuits so reduces the chances of cells being overcharged. Also has discharge and refresh functions individually assignable to the individual circuits. Adds another charging level over the BL-700 and a usb outlet. Available elsewhere under different brand names but at higher prices. The one issue with both these chargers that is worth being aware of is cells that are very flat sometimes come up as "null" and the charger won't charge them. It's worth having a basic non-intelligent charger also as sometimes these battery cells will charge again once they have been given a short charge on the non-intelligent charger. ALL CHARGING NEEDS COVERED.

This charger/discharger will do everything you will ever need to keep AA & AAA batteries in tip top condition. I have now been useing it for over 3 weeks regularly with out fault. My main use is for charging batteries every 3 days for an internet radio, as the charger only has 4 charging slots and the radio uses 6 batteries 2 charging cycles have to be performed, but charging 4 X AA 2100ma batteries at 700ma will only take just over 3 hours per charge. The discharge cycle used occasionally and is useful for preventing the memory effect. A charger with 8 charging slots and the same specification is on my wishlist as so many products now use more than 4 batteries. THE BEST CHARGER ON THE MARKET AT A GOOD PRICE.Read full review

Disappointing

I have to add to my previous review. All the so-called mode settings seem to do exactly the same thing; i.e. charge the battery - not what they are supposed to do. The charger also fails to fully charge several of my batteries - despite displaying "full" for each of them. When immediately tested with a separate meter they defintinely aren't fully charged.

I wish I had invested in a intelligent charger and not a dumb toy. If this is intelligent Mensa will be extremely disappointed.Read full review

Fully featured - if a little complicated

This charger is intelligent and fully featured. But having only used it 2/3 times it has to be said that it does require some getting used to. The features and functions of the charger are pretty comprehensive and this detail means that this is not a "plug it in & off you go" device. As good as it is, it does require some concentration to use. It's longevity is not known at this point, so for that reason and it's complicated nature, it receives 4 stars from me.Read full review

Overcharged my battery's. Displays Null for new battery's

Charged my 1200mah battery for over 24 hrs at 200mAh. Destroyed one set my battery's. Not sure if i have got a faulty one. Very disappointed.
