Obviously OEM with a perfect seal on my 2004 4-Runner

When the original gas cap on my 2004 4-Runner finally gave out, I bought two generic caps before the last one finally worked. Recently I bought another generic one at the car part place when the above generic cap gave out because it was convenient. It didn't work. Rather than drive to the Toyota dealership and purchased an OEM cap like I should have to begin with, I looked on eBay. The cap I received was obviously OEM and much less than what the dealership would have charged "if they had it in stock". It fits as snugly as the original. I expect this to last at least 12 years like the original. If your Toyota 4-runner cap wears out: buy a new Toyota Made replacement on ebay and save yourself from the dealership experience. Is it really OEM?

I suspect this cap is not a genuine Toyota product. It works in terms of there are no codes, etc. However, the sliding ring that is used for hanging the cap while you are filling the tank is too small and constantly gets stuck, which is very annoying. I tried to lubricate it, but it did not work. The other observation: after less than 1 year of use some letters on the cap are partly erased, which means a bad print quality. Taking into account the price (I bought it for $16 vs typical $25 for an OEM cap from a trusted dealer), this item may be a knock-off. It’s OEM

What’s there to say? It’s a genuine OEM part from Toyota, it’s a guaranteed quality part. Fit my 2002 Camry and installation was super easy. Just unscrew the old cap, pop out the old retainer, push in the new retainer and screw in the cap. Takes less than a minute. Although it didn’t fix my problem it didn’t hurt to replace it. Only difference is that the original cap had one “Click” to let you know it was secure and this one “Clicks” multiple times. Great product and I would order from this seller again.Read full review
