Very good router with difficult set up

Coming from a Linksys N router, I am blown away with the raw speed this thing delivers. It's as fast as my wired Ethernet and it maintains a decent connection for probably 100 feet or close to it. This is actually my second one (I liked the first one so much, I bought one for my daughter), but the setup on the second one was tricky--like REAL TRICKY. I have 20+ years of network experience and neither me nor the Linksys technician found the issue quickly. It was more than DNS flushing and resetting. It was a textbook point-by-point troubleshooting bonanza that came right down to pinging the router and trying different web browsers. It was really a ROYAL PITA! If you get this router and I do recommend you do because it's fast and super economical (I got both of mine for $35 or less), if the initial spash page (linksyssetup), doesn't work, just erase the first part of the url and replace linksyssetup with the 192.168 string and you'll be surfing in minutes!Read full review

Runs Hot and Difficult to Setup

Don't buy the Linksys EA6300 AC1200 Smart WiFi router! This router has been phased out by Cisco/Linksys and I see why it's so cheap to get a like new or gently used one online. I brought the Linksys EA6300 router because I needed an emergency router replacement for an awful Belkin DB N450 router I was using at home. The Linksys EA6300 is better, but it's still not consistent enough in managing low-to-moderate streaming (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, Playstation Vue) and it gets very hot, based on it's flawed motherboard and processor layout. Lastly, setting this router up was a total pain! I kept receiving "Bad Gateway 502" errors when trying to access the Smart WiFi installation page during initial setup and the only way to get it to work was to continuously plug and unplug the Internet cable into the back of the router until the page cached for offline access.Read full review

Fantastic router

We decided to upgrade from our old g-router and so we decided to pick up an ac-router. We wanted a minimum of ac-867 but when we saw an ac-1200 router on the cheap we decided to act. The router arrived quickly and well packaged. Starting with looks and build quality, I give this router a 4.5. The router has a nice sleek aesthetic but the plastic creaks a little when you pick it up. Other than that, it's a solid router.

Now on to setup. While the router offers the standard manual setup, they also have a smart setup where you connect your router to the modem and the setup is automatic. The first time I used this it wouldn't recognize my router, but the second attempt worked perfectly. After setting up the wireless network, I got to testing the speed. The theoretical throughout of this router is 300 megabits on the 2.4 GHz a/b/g/n band while the 5 GHz ac band offers up to 867 megabits a second. This all theoretical though and the numbers can be meaningless without real world testing. On my old b router, I tested about 17 megabits a second download while it had about 4-6 megabits a second upload. With the new router on the 2.4 GHz band, I tested about 28 megabits per second with 4-6 megabits a second upload. This number isn't great but it's still a noticeable improvement. On the 5 GHzband of the ea6300, I tested from 58-78 megabits a second download with about 4-6 megabits a second upload. This 5 GHz download speed was quite nice and allowed me to watch 4k videos flawlessly although we may look to upgrade in the future. As a note, I pay for about 50 megabit per second wifi, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the speeds surpass what I probably should be getting.
In conclusion, this router is a very nice looking router with fast speeds. It's a steal if you can find one used for under $35 dollars though it's still solid for its list price.

This does not live up to the billing

It's a great price range for routers, but that's where food ends. Horrible range and spotty connections, every device my family uses will drop out in middle of use

Decent budget Wireless AC router

Bought this router to update/replace the flaky integrated Wireless N built into my cablemodem, Works flawlessly with all my devices and the added bonus of being able to manage some of the features remotely, like guest password, connected users, etc., from my smartphone is handy.Read full review

missing current protocall

Well the product is in excellent condition and the price paid is a good value and Linksys products are good quality soooo whats the problem? It does not support IPV6 just IPV4 in today's day and age that makes it unacceptable.Read full review
