Good way to trasport your recovery tools
The pieces arrived quickly. I test fit a small shovel and pick axe before painting. the shovel required a piece of rubber hose to keep it snug, but it was a shorty shovel, not one this clamp was designed for.
all in all the brackets worked out great. I mounted them on 80/20 aluminum cross bars on my roof rack. held both tools safe and secure through 1600 miles of highway and 40 miles of off road trails in Moab and Breckenridge.
my only concern would have been taking the tools off the brackets, the wing nut and bolt that hold them closed are not held to the bracket and just fall out when opening the clamp. I may add a small retainer to the bolt, just for peace of mind.

Nice quality and design for a good price
I ordered this mount to hold an axe and shovel. When it arrived, I disassembled and degreased it, and powder-coated it black. I mounted this to the top of a Jobox storall which is mounted in the bed of my tacoma. I had to wrap my tools (only where they sit in this mount) with a layer of sticky foam tape to keep them held tight without rattles. With that tape, the tools are held tightly in place, and with master locks installed, they don't even need the wing nuts. The locks themselves hold the mounts closed tightly enough for zero tool movement. The only design element I don't like, is the mount has openings where the plate is bent at 90° at the base. This may never become a problem, but it seems like a lot of jostling may weaken the metal at this point. I've spent the past 2 weeks overlanding some of the roughest paths I'll likely ever see (NM, CO, UT, WY), and no problems so far. I highly recommend this mount set, and for the price, this can't be beat.Read full review
