    Item IS as pictured and is new. It is way more cheaply made than the Samsonite luggage I remember from the 1980s. Given that I have seen the identical set offered several other places, since I placed my order, and that none of them are claiming the set to be 1980s "New Old Stock," I have my genuine doubts about that claim. Given the ratio of shipping cost to item cost, I decided it is not worth the effort to return the set. I have ZERO use for such cheap luggage. Donating to local thrift store.

    Sorry to hear you don't like the bags. They are definitely from the 80's. And, they're new / unused bags. They are old inventory from a retail store. Why would I make that up? I really don't understand what it is your doubting?
