  • A solid zoom lens at a very useful focal length

The image quality is amazing and the focal length is very useful. At 28mm, it is very wide on a full frame camera and at the maximum 75mmit is a pretty decent telephoto range. The biggest con is that the focus motor is pretty loud ruining videos but it does focus fast. And there is a bit of lens flare in bright sunny days when I'm shooting into the sun so I make sure I bring along a polarizer filter. The lens look nice and feels really solid and is not too heavy at 1.3 pounds. There is room for improvement but overall I am very happy with the lens and would recommend it especially for the price.

  • Sharp when stopped down

It struggles to find really sharp focus in low light at f2.8 but when more light is available and stopped to down to f4 or more it is really good. It may just be the copy I have because I have seen others get really good results at f2.8. Overall it is a decent upgrade from a kit lens even for an APC sized sensor although it is not wide at all on an APC sensor. Works well on a full frame and better if used on a tripod to get slower shutter speeds in lower light.

  • Great All Purpose Lens

I am using my Tamron 28-75 F2.8 on 2 cameras, an aps-c Nikon D7500 and a Micro 4/3 Panasonic GX9. It takes sharp pictures wide open and at all focal lengths. I got it to use for photographing dance contests where the light is bright, but not like sunlight. So, high shutter speeds and a wide aperture are needed to freeze motion without too much noise. Set at 75mm and F2.8, the lens did what I needed. The lens is heavy, but easy to use on the D7500. Its a little unwildy on the GX9 without an accessory grip.

  • Outstanding lens

I'm loving this lens. It's very sharp and easy to use with manual focusing. My only gripe is it won't auto focus using live view with my Nikon D7100. I highly recommend this lens

  • Excellent economical alternative to the 24-70

Most of want the best, but collecting the holy trinity (14-24, 24-70, 70-200 f/2.8) is a long-term goal, at best. For those of us in this for the hobby, those might simply be outside the range of what we want to spend on a hobby. I wish I could say that I've used a 24-70 to compare, but this lens is really sharp. The focus is fast. In daylight, images aren't really distinguishable from those I would take with my 50 f/1.8. This will obviously have a disadvantage in lower light when compared to the 1.8 prime lenses, but the zoom range makes it an excellent lens for walking around. When I travel and only want to worry about securing one lens, this is the one I take with me. If you buy a quality used lens, you're almost assured to not lose money if you do decide to upgrade. This is easily the best photography purchase I've made (outside of my first DSLR, of course!).

  • Surprise find

While I was looking for an alternate to the 24-70 nikon I came across this lens at a pretty good price. First thoughts when I got it was its not overly heavy but feels solid. First photos were inside a hanger with gym lighting. Ended up shooting 2.8 all day with ISO up at 800. To my surprised this lens handled this like a champ. My only real complaint to this point is that its alittle loud when zooming.

  • "bang for your buck"

After hours spent surfing for fixed aperture zooms, I was beginning to think there didn't exist a quality, value priced lens. So when I stumbled on this one, it seemed too good to be true. But after reading the specs, and countless overwhelmingly positive online reviews, even from pros, I jumped at the opportunity to own one. Imported from Japan (sorry; I'm biased towards made in Japan) I LOVE this lens. It's not for weight watchers, so beware, but if you can get past the heftiness you will be more than satisfied with it!! And at 1/3 the price of the Nikon brand!!

  • Solid mid-range zoom lens for Pentax K-3ii

This is a great budget mid-range zoom that is f2.8 all the way through the zoom range. When wide open, some of the sharpness degrades, but if you back it down to f4, it's super sharp. F2.8 is usable, but not as good as lenses that cost 5 times as much. It's one of those lenses that a lot of people overlook because it's not wide on a crop sensor, and it doesn't zoom too far at the top end. I will use this a lot for shooting high school basketball and volleyball for yearbook, where a mid-range zoom is very usable. You can probably use it for portraits, but it will not be as sharp as your primes.

  • Tamron 28-75

The lens is still new to me, but I like the fixed F2.8 aperature a lot and it seems sharp and good quality. It seems a little slower focusing than the Nikon. I think this lens is a great value.

  • Tamron 28-75 2.8

If you have a camera that enables you to do auto focus fine-tune then this is an excellent lens. Otherwise the focusing is poor. After fine tuning the lens in my camera body, this lens produces excellent results. It's my second copy, as the first one was stolen. Same focus issue on both copies but after resolving in AF fine tune, this lens is a champ.
