I really can't offer much feedback on this reel because I've only used it a couple of times for catfish. It was probably the wrong application for this reel. It seemed to be working fine. I was looking for a bigger casting reel for my G loomis Salmom rod, and I've found one in this reel. I have not used it for Salmon yet!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent for Specs and Red-fish.
I use this reel mounted on an Ugly-Stik to fish Leesville, Grand Isle, and Chocodrie in Louisiana. It's a "work horse." Don't let the graphite sides fool you. It takes a beating on the rocks, and the low profile makes it easy to cast and fight quickly. I will be buying more of these. Very smooth flowing action. The bearings are excellent.
