The receivers are relatively small. However, it is capable of creating beautiful audio that exceeds expectations, pushing 100 watts to each channel. This is quite a lot for a pair of speakers that are doing all the lifting. The Yamaha "house effect" is a feature that offers a little bit of extra brightness. This matches up particularly well with movie soundtracks but is excellent with any source. Play just about anything you choose in this mode. This includes TV shows, gaming, the included iPod or Sirius capability, radio, and other accessories. Perhaps the easiest way to find high-quality source content is via a laptop streaming music in lossless format, easily handled via the Bluetooth optional attachment.Yamaha did not hesitate to add extra features to the R-S700. For example, Zone 2 audio is typically an upper-level feature on surround units. However, the design team has added it to their dual-channel receiver, regardless. It works well with in-wall speakers located in different rooms. Nevertheless, anything is possible; and the remote control allows for EQ and other options to be changed from a distance. For convenience, most of the typical-use controls are also located on the front of the unit. All connections and ports are of high quality, with the gold plating ensuring the clearest connection. The "Pure Direct" mode uses a short signal route with minimal distortion and noise. The "CD Direct" mode acts similarly, but it's designed for the CD input. The Bluetooth and other extra connections are designed to future-proof the R-S700. They help to ensure that your receiver stays up to date as technology changes. This product measures 15.2 inches wide by 17.1 inches deep by 6 inches tall and weighs 24.7 pounds. It is black with a matte finish, and the remote contains extensive controls. Good "Stereo" receiver with very good sound quality.
A person would need to spend a good deal more money to surpass the sound quality and control flexability the S-R700 provides. Just Make Music
This particular receiver/amplifier is an excellent choice for those who are searching for pure and clear analog analog songs. It does not have digital outputs or inputs but that does not matter. I take a digital to analog convertor that uses a USB port for its source and sends it straight to the R7000. Pleasantly Surprised
I was using a HK-3490 receiver, at first I was very satisfied but after awhile I felt the HK was somewhat lacking on the lower end. So I began searching for a replacement. Now I had not owned any Yamaha products before but the rs-700 had some really good specs, coupled with the fact that I still wanted to use my Graphic EQ. So I took the plunge & boy was I pleasantly surprised.. Although the rs-700 is rated at 20 less WPC I really don't notice any difference, as for the lower end, well I think the dial for the Loudness Control is a awesome feature. You can sort of fine tune your bass response, that combined with my CV sub is just what I wanted. It makes my HPM-900's ( yes that's right original Graphite Woofers) howl So overall I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone. I absolutely love this receiver
This stereo receiver is absolutely amazing. I'm pushing a pair of Klipsh F-30s with it, and it is the best stereo system I've ever heard and owned. It gets nice and loud. Amazingly loud and clean. Check the specs on this beast, the Total Harmonic Distortion is absolutely legit. This receiver is the bees knees. I crank this MFer up and rock it out, and and I'm not even into the + DBs and it's loud enough for a guitar player that cranks up full blast 50 watt all tube amps as standard operating jamming procedure. You don't need to mess with those network connected receivers, don't F with the lesser Yamahas like the S-300, S-500, get the top of the line. The Yamaha R-S700 is the absolutely MFing bees knees and the money is well worth it. I wouldn't trade this for anything. An excellent receiver
This receiver is for the STEREO audiophile on a budget. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to demo a friend's RS700 before I bought mine, and I was so happy with it that I purchased this one. I am picky with my equipmeent. This receiver has ample headroom, and it is very rugged, but also very simple. Many people nowadays are into fancy features and digital signal processing, but this computer has none of that junk. As such, there is no delay (even on the tuner), nor are there annoying artifacts in the signal. The pure direct mode is cool because it lets you bypass the tone and balance controls - essentially eliminating the unnecessary stuff and creating the shortest signal path.
