The Juno 106 produces lush warm strings and punchy base lines that can only be found in a true analogue synth. I love the flexibility with deductive analogue filtering. The Roland only Chorus effect found in the 106 gives this synth lots of options. Goes well with an external sequencer, or is the perfect compliment to a DAW due to the full MIDI implementation. Full key size (not short or narrow) with responsive action makes the board easy and technically plausible to play. A+ Classic!
The Roland Juno 106 has probably been featured on more hits than any other board in history, and with good reason: The sound is great and it's easy to program. Great basses, strings, brass, and pads come out of this instrument with ease, plus worth a vintage analog sound that's unmistakable. The chorus effect (put in to make up for its simple single oscillator architecture) is brilliant. Great F*cking Board!
Couldn't be happier with this synth. It's legendary for a reason. Great patches, easy to use, classic look. All in all, an inspiring piece of gear. Was a little skeptical about the built in speakers, but it's proved to be super fun, and I actually prefer the look of the 106S since the lines and text are minimal (because the speaker grills take up a lot of real estate). I was surprised how much better these look in person. Extra care was taken and the gloss on these are just top notch. Even with extra detail and time taken to perfect each panel... JUNO-106 for the FUTURE!
I have been using the Roland JUNO-106 for decades, it's one of my favorite synthesizers... But with the voice chip problems and other repairs the JU-06 is a fantastic alternative! It is just like the JUNO-106, minus 2 voices, of course.... the sounds are almost 98.9% exact! I say that because I did notice audio aliasing, something I didn't get from my old JUNO-106's Excellent value for the money, get one while you still can!!! Rik
