terrible sound quality and very poor quality of construction.
Gave a pair of these speakers to my wife as an anniversary gift, today...she loved the look, but that's about all we can say that's positive.
We opened one speaker and saw that the speaker was damaged. However, as marks were to the rear, we decided we could live with this, but then we noticed that there were rattles inside the cabinet. We accessed inside of cabinet by removing the port cover [which, in a well made speaker, one wouldn't have been able to do] and then we removed a loose piece of wood that had been used to glue the cabinet structure together. This also gave us an opportunity to see how poorly constructed the cabinet was i.e. lower end speaker cabinets are generally made from inexpensive MDF which leads itself to solidity and improved performance for low cost speakers...there was nothing at all solid about this cheap speaker cabinet.
Despite doing this, there is still a rattle inside the cabinet.
In any event, whilst it didn't look promising, we proceeded to connect this speaker in place of one of my own Cambridge SX80's floor-standing speakers [which I'd only purchased on E-Bay a few months ago...dear lord...the sound difference was exponential. This speaker was brash, tinny and sounded horrible in comparison. We checked and all of the Drivers were operating, so clearly this was a dreadful speaker that no amount of 'running in' would ever improve.
While we were comparing this speaker to the Cambridge SX 80's which cost about £60 more, this really this was a dreadful purchase and a terrible waste of our time and we'd strongly advise a strict avoidance. Photos show cabinet damage and one of the loose pieces of timber sitting on top which, given its size and strength, is an indication of the poor quality of build.
