Small and perfect Bose sound
Nothing like Bose speakers. I have a pair of much larger Bose that I have had since 1988 and they still crank. These 161 series are no exception. Great sound for their size! I wall mounted them above our fireplace mantle which is wall to wall in each corner. The mounts that come with the speakers are really easy to mount to the wall. Highs and mid-range are beautiful. Depending on the song and recording, the low end is really nice. Separation is fantastic. I did have a subwoofer I wasn't using and incorporated it. Made a huge difference. If I didn't have it, the sound I was getting was just fine. Now the house is filled with sound. No matter what I pipe through them, vinyl, CD, tape, digital, it all sounds great. Great Surrond Sound
We have other small size home theater speakers from Bose that work off their own amp and have been excellent for many years. We added these into the system as rear surround that work directly to the main receiver and their quality is as good. White is an excellent feature
I opted for the Bose 161 because of its size, shape, and mounting brackets. I used these for my surround (left & right), and they provide excellent sound. And because they are small they are hardly noticeable. The white blends in with the white trim so not to stand out so badly. Bose 161 Bookshelf speakers
I am using these as rear surrounds/atmos in my 7.1 Onkyo/Klipsch system. They are very attractive IMO and place well with the mounting brackets. Although these are the first set of Bose that I've actually owned I have listened to a few Bose speaker systems. I am always surprised by the amount of quality sound emitting from these (relatively) small enclosures. These 161's are no exception. They do a great job of filling in as surround speakers. Attractive wall mount speakers
These speakers replaced existing one and sound very good. Bose 161 Surround Speakers
Hi, I own Pioneer speakers, Wharfedale speakers, (and a 15 inch powered Wharfedale subwoofer) now I'm using Bose 161 as my extra 2 rear surround sound speakers. They sound AWESOME!!! satisfied with my used bose 161
The bose speakers looked to be in good shape and sounded as well as I hoped they would. I know I'll need to add a subwoofer later, as these 161's don't cover the low ranges well at all, but the high and mid ranges are well covered by their little speakers.
