Developed by Starbreeze Studios, The Darkness is an FPS video game based on Top Cow’s best-selling comic of the same title. The protagonist of this Sony PlayStation 3 video game is Jackie Estacado, a hitman who has the powers of the Darkness. The ‘powers’ in this FPS video game refer to the summoning of creatures known as the ‘darklings’, using ‘dark tentacles’ to attack enemies and break down walls, and using ‘creeping dark’ to create black holes. In the course of this Sony PlayStation 3 video game, Jackie comes to possess ‘darkness guns’ that are more powerful than modern weapons. Many levels of The Darkness are based on the New York City, especially the subway systems. The multiplayer mode of The Darkness allows players to fight online against other Darkness players.

    Great game with some caveats

    The Darkness at it's core is a very atmospheric first person shooter with some exploration elements that break up the pace of the game in a very nice way, the story is great the graphics were good for it's time and still holds up ok. The only problem is not necessarily with the core game but the PS3 version, I've owned both the PS3 and 360 versions and the PS3 one is quite a bit behind in graphics and performance. The 360 renders at a higher resolution, has better textures and framerates so if you can go for that one, if you can't this is still great.
