The story revolves around Kratos, a fierce Spartan warrior, who battles to save Athens from Ares, the God of War. Ares had earlier tricked Kratos, who was once bound to him, causing him to kill his own wife and child. Kratos renounces Ares and the battle begins. As a third-person player, Kratos is armed with the Blade of Chaos as he fights Ares. Moving through labyrinths and gods and goddesses, Kratos battles with the use of Gordon Eyes and Phoenix Feathers which upgrade the player’s abilities. The Rage of Gods is a power that can be won that will make the player invulnerable for a time. Kratos battles Ares and loses all his power but still kills him in the end. Athena saves Kratos from an attempted suicide, gives him a new Blade of Chaos and helps him to become the new God of War. As a third-person player, the goal is to move Kratos through many tests and battles as he becomes a greater character, worthy of becoming a god. Like a great film, God of War is considered an epic battle game with incredible visuals, action, surprises and rewards; a game that is always challenging and always new.
