Complete complex patterns with the BERNINA 1130 computerized sewing machine that features fully automatic one-step buttonholing as well as stitch pattern memory. The BERNINA 1130 is the company’s first computer-operated mechanical sewing machine. It’s a great machine for beginners just learning sewing, quilting, and embroidery as well as intermediate users looking to improve their craft without all of the extra features that the newer BERNINA models offer at a much higher price. It also gives new quilters and users that haven’t made a quilt with a sewing machine for years a half-speed function that allows them to ease into sewing. For accurate work, for safety, and to help reduce eye strain, the sewing light lets you see each stitch as the needle passes through the fabric. The BERNINA 1130 has an electronic needle stop that connects with the foot control unit to return the needle to the highest position when you stop sewing. Just lightly tap the back of the foot control unit to move the needle back into the work position. The computerized sewing machine includes a 130/705 H needle system that fits numbers 70 to 120 commercial needles. Use smaller numbers for fine embroidery, such as sewing intricate dress collars or delicate materials like lace, and higher ones for large needles to stitch through tough materials like denim or leather and top-stitch buttons. Eight presser feet come with the BERNINA 1130 sewing machine. Presser feet help direct the needle to the thread with grooves and guides. If you’re new to using a sewing machine or if you haven’t picked up a needle and thread for years, search through the manual and read through the different feet and the types of stitches they create. For example, use the number 0 foot for simple straight and zigzag stitches. The Overlock or number 2 foot is used to sew seams, and the darning foot is for stitching free-hand monograms or embroidery. Some of the feet are similar in appearance, so BERNINA engraves them with numbers for easy identification. A box for the accessories attaches to the side of the sewing machine. Push the box away from the BERNINA to access its contents. All of the items inside are easily visible at a single glance, so just grab what you need and snap the box back into place. Inside are six bobbins with holes, an assortment of crafting needles, a seam ripper, a darning ring with an arm needle threader, a ruler template, screwdrivers, a cleaning brush, an oiler, and a variety of presser feet for completing different tasks. The BERNINA 1130 comes with a carrying case for storage and to protect it from dust and any damage that may occur when it’s not in use. This case includes built-in areas to hold accessories, such as the foot control, the presser foot lifter, the sewing table, and the instruction manual. With a BERNINA sewing machine, there are only two cords, and both are easy to store. Wrap up the foot control cord when you finish your project, and place it inside the carrying case. The power cable simply retracts into the machine when you unplug it from the wall. How did I ever sew anything before?
This is the best sewing machine I have ever owned. It's easy to use, it makes beautiful stitches. While it doesn't have 1000 different useless decorative stitches, the features it does have, are well executed, practical and elegant. Five different needle positions. A one inch basting stitch. Half speed function, mirror reverse of any stitch pattern. A presser foot lifter you can raise with your knee. Purrs like a cat when it runs.
