Best bang for your buck
Using this with an old Iphone 5s, which has a crappy headphone output vs the even older Iphone 4s. But there are some nice audio apps in the app store that I like to use. The sound is output is about the same to my ears. But the quality of the sound has greatly improved. Very good for IEM's. For my power hungry bass cannon, I use this Fiio dongle like the Burson Cable+, going into a more powerful amp. The only dongle worth purchasing.
For all of the iPhone 7 and up owners looking for the solution to the removal of the headphone port, THIS IS IT! I have tried the Apple dongle (TERRIBLE) and this one and the sound quality is as it should be: warm & clear. The dongle itself is very lightweight and feels high quality. fell for the audiophile hype - just buy a cheap dongle
Was super excited that this product included a headphone amp but I really notice absolutely no difference in audio quality or gain between this and the apple dongle, and this is using studio monitoring headphones. It also sometimes will give me the "this accessory is not supported" warning on my phone and not work for a second. You don’t need to be an audiophile to hear the difference this product makes. The overall sound is simultaneously clearer, fuller and warmer—even with just moderately good headphones or speakers. I can even hear a difference when plugging my iPhone XR into the aux jack of my car stereo (which is what the 2nd one I bought will be used for). It is a noticeable improvement over the oem Apple lightning adapter. The only thing I would change is the cord is actually a little too long, but that is my preference, most would probably prefer the extra length. The volume output is not considerably higher compared to stock, if at all—the difference is the sound quality. If you are using this to push the input of an external amp, there is a noticeable increase in presence at max volume, which is typical.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Can’t say it is superior to the $9 Apple dongle sound wise. The long cable is a nuisance and the controls are redundant. They no longer have the app on iTunes to update the firmware, so that’s a concern.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
