Product Information
The Police and Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1989 (PACE) and its Codes of Practice are a vital part of the legislative framework that lays out police powers for combating crime. Codes of Practice A-G relate to articles 60, 60A and 65 of the Police and Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1989. The Codes deal with contacts between the police and public in the exercise of police powers to stop and search; to arrest and to search premises and with the treatment, questioning and identification of suspects and the recording of interviews. This 2007 edition of the PACE Codes of Practice provides a clear statement of the rights of the individual and the powers of the police. These Codes came into force 01 March 2007, superseding all previous legislation. Among the changes in the 2007 edition of the Codes is the introduction of two new Codes: Code F covering the visual recording of interviews and Code G which deals with the statutory power of arrest by police officers. Copies must be available in all police stations for consultation by police officers, detained people and members of the public.Product Identifiers
