Well written by someone who is very knowledgeable about his subject. Illustrated beautifully.
I read this book when it was first published, borrowed from a library. I couldn't find a copy before now.

Promenades & Pierrots
This is a great book from 1979 about the rise and fall of pierrot style entertainment in the UK towns and resorts mainly from 19th to 20th century. It's all very illuminating with the photos and old posters and Pertwee's writing style is quite engaging and readable
