All 12 episodes from the tenth series of the relaunched sci-fi adventure drama, with Peter Capaldi reprising his role as the legendary Time Lord. This time around, the Doctor and Nardole (Matt Lucas) have stationed themselves in a university so they can guard a mysterious vault. There, they meet student Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), who takes on the role of the Doctor's new companion. Together, the duo travels through time in the TARDIS taking on foes including emojibots, The Landlord (David Suchet), Missy (Michelle Gomez) and the Cybermen. The Doctor Falls...sort of.
I hope it isn't considered a spoiler that this is Peter Capaldi's last season as The Doctor. Apologies to anyone who thinks it is, but it does tie in to my review. I enjoyed the season as it was shown on TV, like most seasons (of most shows, not just Who) it has its ups and downs, but like most seasons of Doctor Who, the 'ups' far outweigh the downs, when it's at its best, the show is still amazing and worth repeated viewings. Now my grumble (and this is to the people who decided on the content for this set.) We get six DVDs in the set, with a total of twelve episodes of the show. The entire show is contained within five of the six discs. The sixth disc is largely comprised of clips/features from 'The Fan Show', an online video company who produce Doctor Who themed content. While the addition of this content is nice for fans who haven't already seen it online, I still think the sixth disc would have been better utilised for that year's Christmas Episode, Twice Upon a Time, which is also Capaldi's last episode on the show. Keeping that episode to be sold separately (meaning the fans have to spend more money, for a single episode of the show, AND will have to find space to home the extra disc) seems rather cynical, especially when they had to hunt around for features to fill the extra DVD. That aside, the content here is as good as ever, just a shame they couldn't give us a 'complete' box set.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
