David Mitchell and Robert Webb star in this comedy-drama about British diplomacy in the fictional republic of Tazbekistan. Hapless but ambitious Keith Davis (Mitchell) is making steady progress up the career ladder at the Foreign Office, with his new role as British Ambassador to Tazbekistan. Neil Tilly (Webb) is the Deputy Head of Mission, and Davis' long-suffering No. 2. Potentially a great series but subbed at half time. Some remarkable bits and some fine-tunes acting.
This was a very engaging mini series which in three episodes was dwardling (very amusingly) somewhere. The middle eastern politics were portrayed as confusingly as they no doubt are. That was the point, but with three episodes and some wonderful cameos we were left high and dry. Assuming it was to continue the BBC scored a monumental own goal as a I imagine the writers had a grand finale up the sleeves of their diplomatic suits.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
