An Oldie But A Goodie
First of all I went into this buying this specific radio from this specific buyer with my eyes wide open. I realized this was a USED PRODUCT and might have problems, it might need me to spend more money on it to get it to a level I would be happy with it. I'm happy to say so far I haven't had to spend a single penny more on it than the purchase prices. It's operated 100% of the time I've asked it to since I purchased it. Appearance is not 100% since it's USED so I can't expect it to look like a NEW radio. It's still more than just acceptable, I'm very happy with the care the previous owner took of this radio. It's met and even surpassed what I expected on every band from 2 to 160 meters, I've contacted people in a number of countries around the world and signal reports have been excellent. I've used this radio with a microphone and voice, with a straight key sending/receiving Morse code, and just picked up a kit for my SIgnaLink USB to modify it to work with this radio so I can try it out on the digital modes like FT8, RTTY, WSPR etc. I kmow this radio was older and has been around for a number of years, and I'm hopeful I'll still have it a number of more years so I can continue to enjoy it for years to come.

I got the French version. No tx above 3.900
This is ICOM 706 not mkiig or other. I like the Icom but I must have got the french version. It did not work on 75 meters meaning it had band edges set at 3.900 and would not transmit up past 3.901 - 3.999 and this is where my nets are held for my club. So according to the digital manual I downloaded from icom, it would be the french version. This was only the radio without a mic and no power cord. For a used item, this radio deserves 5 stars. For unknown reason, the shipment got delayed but the seller quickly resent it using Fedex. Everything works fine but it won't go up above 146MHz on 2m. Apparently it is a Japanese version. However, a quick test with power level 5 shows output of about 30W on my less than ideal antenna on 15m, so I assume the max power theoretically can go up to 100W on HF.
