NotesDigitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this 1987 album including two bonus tracks on Disc One plus the complete album session originally recorded by the late Ray Gillen on Disc Two. The Eternal Idol, Sabbath's 13th studio album, was an altogether harder sounding record and brought back an 'edge' that had been missing from Seventh Star. Whilst there was much for the Sabbath fan to celebrate with tracks such as, 'The Shining', 'Ancient Warrior', 'Born to Lose' and the title track, the album wasn't as well received and settled at number 66 in the UK and a disappointing 168 in the US. Over the years however, fans of Black Sabbath and Hard Rock in general have been re-discovering all that the Eternal Idol has to offer. Sanctuary.

Black Sabbath- The Eternal Idol
I think it’s the first and the best album of Tony Martin’s Era as Lead Singer of this legendary band. The only original member on this album is Tony Iommy (lead and rithm guitar), on drums Eric Singer (Kiss current drummer). The CD2 of this Deluxe Edition contains the same all songs of the CD1, except “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, which is an instrumental song. But the Lead Vocals on this CD are recorded by Ray Guillen (the substitute singer hired to complete the Tour dates of the prior album the Seventh Star, in the place of Glen Hughes who was fired of the band due to voice problems after a fight). This CD2 was unreleased before this Deluxe Edition, so if you are a hughe fan of the band, this edition makes worth.

Regal Spectre Of Sabbath Past
For Eternal Idol, Tony Iommi assembled Blizzard of Ozz master bassist, KISS' future Drummer, and discovered Badlands' Ray Gillian who recorded the initial version of Eternal Idol, included on a second disk in this Deluxe Edition. It's a shame Sabbath didn't retain this well crafted crew for future Iommi led Sabbath slabs!
