    Easy to use.

    Great for finding breaks in cables or blown fuses and broken switches. It flashes to say it's on and working and then gives a steady light when it detects power. I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of this.

    Beware, there are better and cheaper options.

    I recently dropped and busted a 'imitation' / lookalike Fluke tester that I've used for 9 years and it had been perfect, no on/off switch needed and more than sensitive enough to detect correctly any mains voltage in any wiring and sockets/switches, it's never let me down, I trusted it 100%. This (double the price) Fluke is rubbish and dangerous by comparison, it might well 'flash' every few seconds to let you know it's on but it's just too insensitive to be trusted to return a positive result. The tip is useless and to stand any chance of 'detecting' a live wire the pen has to be placed sideways on the wire. The only times it is anywhere near correct is if you touch a live bare wire or terminal, anything insulated is too hit and (almost always) miss. I did query the lack of sensitivity but was informed that insulated wiring won't be detected....? Complete waste of money.

    Not bad

    A good bit better than your bog standard and works pretty well . No problem with the battery being depleted on it’s own and I still have the same alkaline battery in after over than a years use. Bit more expensive than a bog standard but a bit better quality, maker and durability.

    Detect live cables with confidence

    This is great to use for diy electrical work - combine the illuminated tip with audible alert and detecting live cables can be accomplished with confidence. Always try it on a known power source first to establish it is working correctly. The casing is robust enough to withstand being dropped or knocked, and sturdy clip to secure it to clothing when not in use.

    It has a silent mode (very handy). It pulses every few seconds to let you know it's active (again, very handy), and it has auto shut off (again, very very handy). All in all it's VERY HANDY and hasn't let me down at all. Worth every penny !!!!!!
