  • Worthy Upgrade Over 1st-gen Ryzen

This chip is a huge upgrade over my old Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core processor. I bought it to run Star Citizen better, and it runs it about twice as fast as my old processor (aka: ~ twice the FPS in the most taxing scenes.) (I also got a 360mm liquid cooler to replace the stock cooler I got with my old processor, so that probably accounts for some of the performace improvement.) It has a max boost clock of 4.5 GHz, but even with the 360mm liquid cooler I put on it, it only gets up to about 4.29-4.32 GHz under load. I have not tried to overclock it, yet. I bought it because my X370 motherboard does not support newer 5000-series Ryzen processors. Overall, I would recommend this processor to anyone needing an upgrade over a first-gen Ryzen processor who does not want to replace their motherboard. (Check you mobo's CPU support list before buying! Yours may not support this processor, even though mine did.)

  • Super fast and easy to install.

This cpu is extremely fast. I am an extreme gamer and checked out all the reviews and stats before buying. They were exactly right . This is the chip to buy if you want to game. This also handles productivity very fast as well. Granted the 3900x will be do just as well but you don't need 12 cores to play games and the price savings makes this CPU a winner. Warning --- Once you place the cooler onto the CPU do not pull the cooler off without releasing the CPU from the socket as the thermal paste on the cooler is like glue and the CPU will come out attached to the cooler.

  • Great CPU and fast

This CPU is an upgrade from ryzen 7 1700x which for some reason did not take overclocking well. Installed this CPU and instantly overclocked clock speed and RAM frequency. I am very pleased with it.

  • Excellent product and HUGE bang for the buck in the used market

I replaced a 1700 with this and as you might expect there was an appreciable up tick in performance. Now for some reason after updating the UEFI and drivers my installation of Windows tanked hard (10 minute boot times hard) and it required me to just nuke it and reinstall (which you should do every 3ish years anyway IMO). After that everything flies! My motherboard is an ASRock X370 Fata1ity Gaming X, AMD allowing 3rd year CPUs to work in 1st year MBs is such an awesome move and why I went to AM4 when it came out. I can easily wait until 2023 and move to AM5.

  • Super fast at a reasonable cost

Very nice improvement over my ryzen 7 2700x on benchmarks I paired it with a x570 asus tuf gaming mother board and was very impressed with the speed and low thermals

  • Absolutely stunning performance

This processor is the best I’ve ever had, it’s fast, it’s reliable, and above all it supports a 4.5 GHz boost clock.

  • Upgrade from R7 1700

My old Ryzen 1700 was starting to show its age and I decided to upgrade to a 3800x since it was easily supported on X370. I had been getting some nasty frame drops in Hunt: Showdown and the new cpu fixed that problem. I went from getting 45-100fps to getting over 100fps pretty consistently. Got rid of a lot of stuttering too. Solid upgrade!

  • Great CPU in 2022

If you cant afford Ryzen 5000, the Ryzen 7 3800x is still quite a capable CPU. My system is very fast and my games play very well. The CPU can get hot, so i installed a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition, and it keeps the CPU at 72c full load. Great CPU for 2022
