    Addis 3.5litre water heater.

Have had 2 similar water heaters of different brand and 5litre capacity and they are very good. Decided on the smaller 3.5litre model this time as it has all the same features as the larger one. Smaller capacity means a full fill boils to selected temperature is faster and maintains that level within a few degrees until water is added to fill. Saves continually boiling a kettle, easy to operate and low cost running features. There are facilities which allow lower than boiling temperature and easy to fill as the visual level indicator tell you when water level is low. Good delivery time and the item was very well packed and the price was very competitive from the seller.

  • Most critical review

Some comments on my new Thermo pot.

I contacted customer support (Kelly) immediately the pot arrived because, as there is no description or illustration of the back of the gadget in the instructions book supplied, I thought the lid release at the top was the electric power inlet (hidden down at the bottom) and broke the white lid release gadget looking for the contact point. Kelly enlightened me, but the damage was done. The instruction book is not fit for purpose. It is obviously badly translated from another language and contains such gems as * 'For the first time to operate the thermo pot, boil the water to clean the container and the sections through which hot water passes. Dispense about half of the hot water, then empty the container. Then, *Add water immediately when the pot is empty to avoid dry boiling. Then, *Before adding water, be sure to unplug from the power outlet and the unit has cooled down to prevent injury and damage. Do you understand what I mean about the instructions booklet? It does not make sense, that's all. So, when trying to empty the thermo pot as instructed, I dropped it and dented the exterior. It still seems to work, but the signs of inadvertent damage are increasing. Sometimes after I have turned it on to warm the water it seems to switch itself off and the micro computer on the front goes blank, with no light. It's confusing when it comes back on because you think it is broken, then suddenly life seems to return to it. Perhaps this needs to be explained in the booklet. I hope you will consider these comments appropriate, and possibly helpful to the company in their search to provide a better product, clearly explained to the purchaser. I have already sent Kelly a photograph of the puzzling white plastic switch on the back of the product. I look forward to your response, Caroline Beamish

  • Highly recommended kettle replacement

I bought this to replace a Breville one-cup dispenser which only held enough water for about 6 cups and which started leaking after a year. This Addis is so much better in every way. It holds enough water to make probably 15 cups (or more), it uses a fraction of the electric that a 1.5 or 2kw kettle uses, and it's really quiet. (Heats over 30 mins at 680w then stays at 2w to maintain heat) Water can be dispensed using the button on the top, or by holding a cup up to the water spout and applying upward pressure to the switch on the underside. Alternatively, there is a manual air-pump built into the lid which can be used as well so the urn can be taken outdoors if required. (Electric supply not needed when using the manual pump). The water boils at 100 degrees then stays at a steady 97/98 until it's topped up or refilled again. It can be set to a lower temp if required for say, fruit drinks or coffee etc. I've read mixed reviews on this type of dispenser - it might not suit everyone but for my household it's better than expected and we'll not buy another kettle again while this dispenser is available. We love it!

  • Brilliant

It's not a kettle ! So it takes a while to boil from cold but it stays hot all day , you have instant hot water not just for tea for gravy, veg, boiled eggs, it's cheaper than a kettle I've monitored it with my smart meter . It's very quiet and stylish to look at and simple to use, I would highly recommend it to everyone

  • Hotpot

This has revolutionised my kitchen! No longer having to boil a kettle to make a nice cup of tea, I have instant hot (almost boiling) water when I want it. It uses low current to heat up, so if you completely empty it then you'll have to wait for it to heat the water, but as long as you remember to top it up before you need it, then it holds the water at a set temperature ready for you. I usually refill it when it gets 2/3 empty. You need to rescale it monthly, that involves using citric acid powder & leaving it for around 2 hours to ferment, so no using it during that time! That's the only drawback I can see. I'd definately not go back to a kettle anymore.

  • Addis Thermo Pot 3.5L

I'm happy with Thermo pot the larger size would have been better but was not available. My main criticism is its stated that the default setting is 98*c. but it doesn't stay warm at that temperature and defaults at 96*c so every time I dispense the water I have to press the select button and wait for the temperature to reboil to 99*c . Quiet whenin use and low sound on reboil.

  • Quick and easy

So far so good. I have quite a lot of mugs of coffee through the day, so its great to just go to this machine, press a couple of buttons and get water at the right temperature, 85 deg. C, onto my coffee and sugar. Also, hopefully saving on electricity usage.

  • Brilliant bit of kit! But replaced three times.

Brilliant bit of kit, wish we’d got one sooner! I have fused wrists and dexterity issues… However, we’ve had our 7nit replaced three times now…the control panel eventually peels off and then the unit stops boiling. Very good service in terms of replacement but obviously a design fault and poor quality.

  • Useful item in the kitchen

A very useful item to have in the kitchen with Boiling Water available at the touch of a button. No boiling a kettle just for a mug of tea or coffee its just there as required.

  • Smart looking and efficient.

We fill the boiler once a day and the keeps us going in tea and coffee. It is easy to use, you just have to wait until the green light shows and its ready for hot water. We like it very much.
