Great espresso machine!
it's a good quality machine. I like hotter espresso; the brewery it makes is warm but not to hot enough for me, so I let the machine on for a few more seconds before it starts to brew. Excellent Semi-automatic Espresso Maker
This espresso maker heats up quickly and has programmable settings for temperature and volume control. The standard pour is 2 oz., and I was able to easily adjust it to 2.5 oz for a single shot. De Longhi EC 685M. Very good product
I needed a smaller espresso machine for my sailboat. This one is half the foot print of my Breville which I have at home. Both have 15 bar pump and makes very nice crema. The milk frother works very well on the Delonghi and the result is a very good cappuccino. The only draw back is that sometimes too much pressure builds up after frothing the milk and you have to purge some of the steam before making the espresso. Tough, Simple Workhorse
Yes it is small and only pulls 2 shots at a time. Yes the milk steamer sometimes fizzles and you have to push a few buttons, but I love the quality of the coffee and the sheer ease with which I can, in a minute or two have a truly excellent cappuccino or latte. The steamer fluffs the milk right up and makes it hot. I use this machine to make primarily cappuccino coffee. It has an external water tank, which is easy to detach, and reattach. The water heater is powerful, which makes the brewing time very short. The milk/cream frother is effective. Here too, it heats up the milk quickly, and produces a good amount of froth. All the seals, between different parts, are tight. I'm Good! I like it!
It takes a few brews to get the one you like. I'm talking about getting the grind and the pack just right. I just use a cheap grinder for 20 seconds. Do not over pack the portafilter. For one thing, you can't lock it in place. So, it won't let you in that way. But if you manage to super pack a "bowl", the machine doesn't like it. It runs much longer than it should which makes me nervous that I'm stressing the machine out. And you don't get that good of cup. If you use the measuring spoon that comes with the product and level it off, you'll be fine. If you get it right, you'll get a nice cup with cherry creme.
