A new version of an old classic

I have been utilizing pneumatic nail guns since the early 80's, mostly I utilize Senco as they seem to be the industry leader in quality and (back in the day) parts/nails readily available with the exception of the "Big Gun" for framing. I purchased the older larger version of this nail gun "used" from a Pawn Shop in Bakersfield,Ca. in 1994. I recently had to submit it for seal repair (first time service) and quickly purchased this one.... I am pleasantly surprised and look forward to many years of service from it. The main feature that I like about it that the older version does not have is pressure control at the gun, I no longer have to adjust the compressor regulator for "flush" nail heads when nailing off shear or sheeting.

    Works but has air leak

Used once on a large project nailing 2X6's into pressure treated 6x6's. Nailer performed well, but I did notice a small air leak near the top of the drive piston. This should have been discovered and corrected during the refurbishment process. Nailer arrived with all parts and accessories, but not in original packaging.

  • It works

The only down sides are it does not come with a case, a cap for the air port, or prevent a shot when empty. While these are collateral issues they do not detract a star's worth from rating its the primary function of nailing. Not sure which meaning of lightweight. It is not unduly heavy for a 3 1/2 inch nailer, and appears to be reasonably rugged, so depending on you meaning it is or isn't.. It sets 3" ring-shank hot dipped galvanized nails into treated lumber without problem. No jams so far; however I've only shot about 400 or so nails with it to date. I am satisfied.

  • Light Safe and easy to use

Like a new unit out of the box outstanding performance. Used for building a fence saved a ton of time and my arm unit is about 7.5 pounds great design quality feel and ease when loading. All touch controls are well laid out great formfactor.

  • Great commercial duty nailer

The framing crew that built my house used Hitachi nailers. I needed one becauseI had several projects lined up that required a lot of nailing and my elbow tends to get inflamed if I abuse it. This nailer was a little less expensive because it was advertised as bein factory reconditioned. But the nailer that arrived appeared to be completely new. It works great. I'm nearing the end of my first 1000 nail box and I've only had to clear one jam. I've been shooting 3" framing nails and 2" ring shanks through it at 90 psi. Really, really glad I bought this.

  • Nail gun shoots the moon

Purchased this for a small fence project, it worked as well as I expected, that is to say, perfectly.

  • lightweight and powerful...

reworked on the fences and no jams at all. lack of feature to prevent firing after no nails. Wish to come with the hard carrying case to store it.

  • No storage case or bag, rafter hook, and protective rubber pads

No storage case or bag to protect it when going from construction site to construction site. For under $20 you would think Hitachi would provide one. Hitachi should also have provided a rafter hook. I think Hitachi should provide protective rubber pads around the gun's pneumatic head to help protect from marring and from sliding off surfaces. The knob for adjusting nail depth could have been made more ergonomic. Other than that, the gun is nicely balanced. Time will tell how it holds up.

  • Framing/shear gun

Gun is light and easy to frame and shear nail with. No issues with all day use days on end have used the gun for years and have in all my crews hand

  • Better than Harbor Freight any day

Why would anyone buy a Harbor Freight Pierce nail gun when you can have this Hitachi for about the same price?
