Wow Toasties
This is a great little gadget. Easy to use, so easy to clean as plates can be easily and quickly removed. You get 3 different types of plates, one for toasted sandwiches (the usual 2 triangle shapes), two is a waffle plate, three is a mini griddle so you can grill bacon or heat paninis up. Has a red button to show it's switched on, green button to show it's heated up and ready to use. On the reverse is the 3 legs of the stand part, one of which doubles as a winder to store the cable round during storage. It looks like an expensive product, plates are sturdy. Don't use cheese
Brought this to do cheesy toasty , I added a little cheese cut very thin, but the cheese just poured out everywhere , ended up in every little crack, under the plates, then stuck solid to clean, just a complete mess, tried again with different cheese and even less but did it again , the bread does not seal round the edges, even when you lift the top to open , the bread is stuck on both half. Not sure what to do in it now , most of the recipes iv tried does not work in it , just causes everything to flow out and make mess everywhere , and it's impossible to clean as so many little gaps . compact, versitile and easy to clean, it is quite small and normal bread will overhang a bit
This arrived promptly and was very well packed. It is easy to operate, compact and easy to clean. Only real downside it is slightly too small for most bread slices these days and it takes a while to cook, so there will be some crust that sticks out unless you cut the bread down. Also, the lid is not that heavy, so when you have the sandwich in the von shef, there is no way of clipping the lid down (it says you are not supposed to use the clip, that is for shipping and moving only). I am really undecided if this is right due to this and also, the lid only opens to about a right angle, so you cannot really use it as a griddle. I haven't yet tried doing French Toast in it, but I have tried a cheese sandwich and banana sandwich, also some "thins" and they came out well. It is easy to understand when it has reached temperature as the lights are clear indicators, just make sure you are aware that the plates will be warm! Nice little machine I have been lusting after for a while now. If you are a confident cook and fairly familiar with this sort of machine, then you should be fine, there is no cookbook with it, so you have to use your own ideas, so if you are buying for a student, then they will need to know the basics of cooking first before using this item. Excellent 3 in 1

compact and most useful
Being able to swap the plates around easily is a good feature. It is easy enough to clean but quite fiddly. Even though I have only been using a soft damp cloth to clean it, the non-stick surface is already wearing off in places, after 2 weeks use. Great equipment
I've already used all of 3 plates for food preparation and I have to say that it's a good value for this price. The only disadvantage is cleaning. Unfortunately when you place too much mixture or cheese inside everything will come out from the plate and cover inner part of toaster. I am very happy with this product. It is exactly what I wanted. Easy to change the plates. Easy to clean them. It will be better to use small size breads with the sandwich maker and panini maker. Not practical
When I first used it, there was a strong smell of electrics burning coming from within the toaster. After several uses the smell subsided. The toaster works fine but you'll find that you'll need to get 'no-crust' bread as the normal size bread is too big for the toaster. You'll need to watch what you put in your sandwich, more than 2 ham slices and cheese and the lid won't shut. works as advertised - BUT
This product does what it is advertised to do and is a useful item for casual cooking. makes good heated sandwiches, the waffles are excellently cooked with a crispy outside and a soft inside. the grill plate makes excellent fry ups. you can also use the grill as a toaster with thick bread (don't oil the plate for toast!) BUT the mains cord is ridiculously short. has a tendency to tip backwards when the top is fully open. the plates are NOT dishwasher proof. there is no guide to when the food is ready - except for when it begins to smoke! The overall impression is of a flimsy device that could easily break. Overall - worth buying for occasional use - not for a students main means of cooking. Value for money but with reservations
Does what it's name implies, well almost. As with all compact sandwhich toasters is doesn't take full size bread slices, you have to trim your sandwhich to make it fit the plates. Forget about making toasted paninis as without an extending rear hinge like on a proper panini press there isn't enough room. It does make nice waffles so I'd designate this machine a 2 in 1; so still good value at £19.95.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
