Ideal for 4K Home Movies.

Good but not excellent
This Sandisk 256Gb USB3 disk is very fast at copying some files but only average with others. Folders containing mixed file types seem to be the slowest but no worse than with a conventional HDD. The downsides are: 1. Actual disk space is only 233Gb not 256Gb and the files cannot be compressed to save disk space as they can on a conventional hard disk drive. The total loss of space is significant, around 40 or 50Gb. 2. If you intend using this as a backup disk, note that not all files can be copied. Many of those that can (e,g, .pdf and .jpg) have part of their properties missing, in particular the security tab in the properties box. 3, It is expensive in comparison with a conventional HDD but it is also lighter and smaller and has the potential of a longer service life as there are no mechanical parts to wear out.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great Value Storage Backup
I have used SanDisk for many years and they are great value storage USB sticks and memory cards. I have several of the 256 GB storage USB sticks that I use to transfer data from one computer to another. These very large USB sticks have replaced my use of USB storage disk drives as they are a lot faster and way more reliable in my recent experience. My use of hard disks in my laptop computers has now reduced to Zero! I have replaced all the remaining Hard Disk in the computers with SSD's now and it has made the computers faster. I have a plan to put three to five of these 256GB USB disks into an array and try it in use as a Raid Disk drive. I read about this in a computer magazine and thought I would give it a try. After reading some of the previous reviews, I was a little apprehensive. However this flash drive has met all my expectations. Whatever the technical jargon, does it work practically? The answer is - yes. The USC plug works without fiddling, the transfer rate is fast enough, reliably transfers data from devices. Sensible size, fast, reliable, minimal cost.
This my second one of these. Its great value for money. Helped a lot when I was transferring large folders from an old iMac to a new one. Photos, videos, documents it does the job perfectly. I was worried at first that it would not connect with my new iMac but as soon as I went onto the SanDisc I was able to download a driver. A very useful little device
Bought this 256gb drive to allow me to move files from an old Windows device, with USB 2.0 and earlier ports. While it is quick to load files on new Windows device (USB 3.0), it is of course slow to copy them from the old device. To be expected and only needed once. The new drive has sufficient capacity, for me, also to fulfil a back up role and of course that will be fast.
